What's your take on the EU fining Intel 1.4Billion

Interesting...I gotta admit I did not see that coming...But, AMD has something to celebrate now lol

It's a slippery slope.
We are dictating that a business cannot make their own decisions as to their selling price and rebates.

On the other hand their needs to be some sort of regulation to prevent monopolies.

Where we draw the line will always be up for debate.

I think we're getting to the point where rules may be invented ad hoc. Anything to avoid a monopoly.

I don't see anything wrong with giving manufactures rebates for using X amount of Intel CPUs, but rebates for using ONLY Intel is a bit much.

Id agree although it’s not only the international companies that use this tactic, a number of large building firms also follow their lead to gain further developments more often than not. For Intel it seems they are setting a president and are going to be made an example of none the less similar to Microsoft, yet again though it will make no real dent into their wallets regardless of the amounts.

But despite for example the fines, Microsoft at least are continuing their orrignal tactics to get onto peoples pc’s and their additional software to be used. And I doubt Intel will do anything other than offer a higher rebate for the use of Intel chips on bulk.
