Look for those whom offer SLA (Service Level Agreement) to award credit in unexpected downtime, I personally also stay away from hosts with "unlimited" offerings and maybe your personal preference of support (contact sales and see how quick they are to responde) or if they have phone number available

What are your requirements (scripting, disk space, email, etc). They may not be suitable for a cheap shared hosting environment. They may require a vps or dedicated server.

Stay away from hosts that trick you into believing you can get unlimited email, unlimited sites and unlimited databases without unlimited disk space quota.
