What merchants does everyone use?

What merchants do you use for you hosting business? I currently utilize paypal but this will not be enough in the future! What is everyone else using?

2CO and paypal. If you are looking for a real merchant account, I would recommend cdgcommerce.com. They don't require a business checking account which is nice for small proprietors.

PayPal is great. 2co is good for those countries that PayPal won't accept currency from (we had to register this for a client in Jordan). We also have Authorize.NET; very nice for the automated transactions, but a real pain for refunding fraudulent orders.

We use Authorize.net through Total Merchant Services and we've been very happy. We also have a PayPal option, but only 2 customers use it for some reason. It costs for the auth.net account - but it's very worth it imho. Not only for the ease of processing cards, etc. but for looking more legitimate as a company. If all you accept is paypal, I think it makes you look kinda small.

One bit of advice - if you use auth.net with a billing system like ClientExec and it STORES the CC# in your database, then you should put something in your TOS that states that you will store the card and charge it monthly - otherwise you will have grumpy customers - trust me ;)

At Duethosting, I've been using Paypal with ClientExec. I have changed the payment selection to say "Credit Card OR Paypal" instead of just "Paypal". That way people know they can still use their credit cards with Paypal.

Great thread.

Great idea!! Thanks for sharing that.

That IS a good idea, and I've set that up with a couple of my ecommerce web design clients - but there is always a lot of frustration from the customers who THINK they're going to pay by CC but then are forced to pay with PayPal. High cart bail-out rate in my experience. Although I'd love people to - not everyone uses, or wants to use, PayPal.

Yes your correct, but you can only pay by credit card from 33 countries, so you'll be limiting your business with those only.

I am using Authorize.net with CDGCommerce now. I do have a few PayPal clients. I think I have used them all over the years. 2CO, Paysystems (what a fiasco for all involved there).

CDGcommerce is such a breeze now. I love it. I wish I would have done this sooner.
