Lately I have seen a large increase in few-post members who use forums such as this to advertise their websites and services. I am talking about those keyword phrases and SEO-enhanced links in their signatures. These members would either reply in threats or start discussions that would contain content relevant to the subject of their website/service, to improve the quality of those incoming links and have more search engines (notably Google) to count them as legitimate links.

So I presume the model is becoming more popular. Otherwise, spammers wouldn't target it so heavily.

Corret.. besides signature in forum posting, you can also do it with articles or blogs writing ... Submit them to websites articles to gain company credibility.

Also, you can try to put your sites in directory listings or social bookmark your sites..

Yes, I agree, no doubt that website submission to news, blogs and article directories will have a positive impact on website search engine rankings!

Article marketing

Not only submitting articles to the directories but utilizing Squidoo and Hubpages. Both of these get a lot of love from the SEs and are easy to set up. You can even use Squidoo lenses in your resource box if you don't have a website yet for that niche. Of course, the best thing is to make sure you have high quality, readable content for your actual visitors.
