What Kind Of Car Do You Drive?

I drive a 97 Chrysler Concorde, it's dirty right now from all the salt and mud around here (it snowed on Christmas Day and then it all melted this week with highs in the 40s - Iowa is crazy). I would like to upgrade to a Nissan Titan (King Cab) as soon as possible.

Can't find the picture of my car I took last year around this time last year, it hasn't changed much and my digital camera is broke. But I'll attach it as soon as I find it.

What kind of car do you use for transportation?

Mine is a 93 Eagle Vision TSi ... first brand new car I owned in over 20 years. But it was my one concession to "mid life crisis". I turned 40 that April and in May I bought the car. Funny how spending that much money all at once can immediately cure a mid-life crisis :)

For those who are not familiar ... its on the same frame as the Intrepid & the Concorde. I looked at both. But there were things on the Intrepid I could not get on the Concorde ... things on the Concorde I could not get on the Intrepid. The only reason I went with the Vision is because I could get everything I wanted on it.

A month later ... I wish I had handled things differently. But not because I did not love the Vision. Instead of spending all that money on one car ... I wish I had bought a gently used older vehicle and taken the rest of the cash and spent 6 months in Tahiti or something. I think that would have been a much better cure for any kind of crisis :)

What did you want in your Eagle that you couldn't get on the others?

Mine came with a CD Changer (aftermarket install). I took it out before going down to Texas for QuakeCon (Had to fit all that PC stuff, games, laptops, oh, and clothes into the trunk for 4 guys) and found out after returning, and smelling gas, that the idiot who installed the changer drilled 4 holes into the gas tank. Because I bought it used (there's only 80k miles on it currently) and the warranty has since expired I have to foot the grand for a new tank...or trade it up and get a Nissan Titan :)

Since buying it I've put in a Clarion CD deck, removed the 10disc changer, new tires all around three times, new brakes (pads, rotors, discs, drums, shoes), new hoses/belts, currently needs an oil change, new fuel filter, plugs, wires, needs a new battery.

Oh, and I need to buy a new Sirius tuner for it as my toolbox killed the last one so that I can have my satellite radio back.

Bought it November 2003 :) but I love it to pieces.

You have to remember this was in 93 .... the first year these cars were sold. At that time ... I wanted the high performance engine & performance suspension (available only on the Intrepid). I wanted the "climate control" ... set the temp and the computer handles everything (only on the Concorde). I wanted the roof console (only on the Concorde). I wanted the 16" aluminum rims (only on the Intrepid ... I think) 11 speaker sound system (only on the Concorde) ... 36 position electric seats (only on the Concorde) ... and there were a few other things but you get what I mean. The salesmen at the time thought the whole thing was stupid ... but ... what can you do. I ended up with every added feature I could get ... except leather seats (hate leather seats), integrated child seat (I am single) & CD player (at the time I didn't even own a CD) ... but I could only get everything if I bought the Eagle. If I bought either of the other 2 ... I would of had to "settle". And at that time I did not "settle" ... ever ... I got what I wanted and to heck with the cost :)

Oh .. and when I picked up my car ... it had 3 kilometers on the odometer (about 1.5 miles :) )

Well...I used to drive a 92 Ford Mustang 5.0. Once we had our twins, they wouldn't fit in the car, with our 5 yr old.

So, now I drive a '03 Dodge Stratus

There is my baby. Our family's I mean... :)

Now that looks like the type of vehicle I will be looking at next. One I can just open the door and park my butt right on the seat :) No climbing up or sliding down into :)

Subaru Imprezza STi.

We're moving in to the SUV range soon though, as my son get's older, and are buying a Durango in March/April.

Ever wish you had chosen to keep the Mustang and just add the Stratus to your "stable"???? Since reading your post yesterday I have suddenly started missing the '67 Mustang I owned decades ago ;)

Or maybe its not so much the car as the lost youth that I am missing hahahaha :D
