I am setting up my own music at my wedding (for the dance portion) and I am trying to figure out the best way to do this. I have speakers and an amp. Should I connect my laptop or my ipod to play the music? I am worried about breaks between songs and organzing the music. Which would work best for this? And what cords would I need for connecting them to my amp?

I used to be a DJ for all sorts of events, weddings/receptions being one of them. I would definitely use a laptop, in which case you can create a playlist, crossfade between songs, you'll have a hard time doing all of this with an iPod without any interruption.

What kind of inputs are on your amp? Most likely the easiest type of cable you could use is a male-to-male 3.5mm stereo to 2 RCA Y-adapter..

Definitely a laptop because it gives you a lot more freedom and control over your music such as specific equalizer settings.

Either would work well if you had a more diverse setup. I loved my ipod turntables...digitally scratching is very, very keen.

The laptop is probably your best bet although if your budget has a bit or wiggle room I'd look at renting some equipment.

No doubt, laptop is much more better than ipod, because there are a great number of settings there, you may control everything making the best quality of music.

I think you should get a Stereo to play quality music. especially at a wedding, There is nothing worse than a wedding being messed up due to poor quality music or mess-ups on that very special day!!

The Bride will hate you FOREVER if you make a mistake!

I will prefer laptop due to you can used the different software do do the editing or playback..
More conveneint if compare to ipod..

To make it more professional google SAM Broadcaster.
alot of online radio use that software and it is good.

you can download a free trial from them.

Basically you can que up your music and turn on auto DJ and go away and have a pint.
