What can I code?

I need to code an advanced, complex PHP script :(
Its for a programming course I am doing for a bit and PHP is part of the code Im using.
What can I code?
I want something that others will be able to use, I would love to make a forum but I think that might take far too long to get something good in the time limit.
I have to have something done by Jan 15th so theres loads of time.
 
Thanks but dont really like that, would like to work on something interesting too, means I will be interested in working on it instead of just doing it to get it working, think I will end up with something better if its a script I would use myself.

Is there anything apart from a forum thats interactive that I could do?

Don't know if this can be done in PHP alone but how about a PHP file for reading POP3 e-mails. One that works like an e-mail application so that people who don't have an online e-mail reader with their e-mail account can use that to check their mail on the move.
 
Im not sure if it could gooooogle but I think it might be very advanced because you would have to work with firewalls and proxies and thats a lot of work.
I doubt it would work as you would have to have PHP installed on your PC just to run a script coded with PHP (You dont need it when using a script from a site because the server the site is on has PHP installed)

Here are the main suggestions that Im thinking of doing, which do you think would help others most:


HelpDesk

Review script for users to review hosts/database of webhosts (users can search for hosts by selecting options, this could be very useful on www.hosting-talk.net because I was thinking of doing this anyway.)

Ad software (Something like phpAdsNew but I think thats taken over the market really, its been going for years and years and its very stable and advanced already)
 
hmmm... PHP

can u make little applications in PHP?
My friend @ school does with VB I think thats delphi or something tho..

I dunno sorry never really thought about that :S
 
For PHP the program must be on a website, or online really so you cant code programs like you can using vb or delphi.

Most "programs" online are coded in PHP now, including this forum :)
 
I think you should do the review script and then if it's flexible enough people can use it for other things then just web hosts.

I vote review script.
 
John, you are welcome to help me with the little PHP script I was going to make to check the status of the services on your server.
