What are inodes?

I've seen the term "inodes" in TOS agreements. I wonder how many here believe most prospects know what an inode actually is (not yourself).

Wasn't sure whether I should have picked the 2% of the "what the heck is an inode" - 99.9999% of our customers I would venture to say have no idea that the word even exists let alone what it is :)

We use it though :) 50,000 is about standard for most places it seems. More than that and people throw an abuse flag (for the most part).

I don't know what it is [exactly], but I do like the word and the way it sounds. From that I can conclude that if I had more of these on my server, the better! :D

Right?

Artashes after the Knowledgebase article id expect more of you :P :D

Inodes are a unix number based representation of folders and files, the more of which you use and those on your server use dictate the system usage.

Though back to the original point 3rd Google response for “what is an inode” points to the siteground.com knowledge board (http://kb.siteground.com/article/What_is_an_inode.html) for those still unsure :)

I voted less than 2%. However, I do have a knowlegdebase article about it in the pre-sales section for clients to read. :magnify:
