You will have to add it in to the meta tags/HTML do you want a text link, an icon, or a small icon? I believe there are three different tags you can use depending on what you want.

First find the icons that you like, there are tons of free ones. Than just place the links to your facebook and twitter accounts with those images instead of anchor text.

Of course adding buttons or add ons of facebook and twitter accounts may be very helpful for your site to attract additional traffic. But You need to add the buttons into the meta tags/HTML You also have choice whether you want small or bigger icons or a simple text link.

If your website is like some CMS or WordPress based platforms, addition of the links to your posts would be too easy because by editing the CSS panel of your site, the changes would be noticed effective site wide. For the simple HTML sites there is no problem because you can simply add the buttons to each of your posts, it will take a bit longer time but easy to do if you know how to edit HTML codes.
