If you have some of the following as a part of your website design, you can be sure that visitors to your site find it annoying.

1. Background music - it is only for an internet radio or a site that sells CDs.
2. Huge font size - the kind that shouts at you. Keep in mind that no one likes being shouted at.
3. Small font size - the exact opposite of being shouted at i.e. huge font size. If, you wish to be heard, a normal tone at a reasonable volume is required.
4. Layers that overlap are 'too much in your face' message screaming. Subtle persuasion is far better than employing sheer 'brute force'.
5. Popup windows - even while these are blocked by add on tools, certain website designs continue to employ them. Why not place your important messages in a central part of your web design rather than trying to get them across with the help of irritating pop-ups.

Thanks for the tips. I don't necessarily agree with subtle persuasion - this can go both ways depending on your marketing strategy and target audience. While you don't want over the top brute force, you do want your product or service in their face.

Large font size goes right in line with more modern clean designs. So I wouldn't discount that one too much. I agree with the other 4 though.

Huge font size and small font size doesn't really annoy me. I use the CTRL + Mouse Scroll to adjust the size of the website. Headers are usually big but if they occupy the whole page then that would be really annoying.

Pop-up windows are the things that annoy me most. I just don't like being interrupted with what I'm searching for. Most pop-ups are not even relevant to the website I'm visiting.

Thanks for sharing this. I also don't get too annoyed with big or too small font sizes as long as they look clean and neat on the page. What annoys me are those with glittering effects.

Many of the things numbered here are just in the eye of the beholder. Design is therefore hard to criticize. Of course, there are some ugly pieces of work definitely.

Big font size never bothers me. Too small can be annoying. But #1 worst thing EVAR is the automatically playing music!!! It drives me nuts. I can't tell you the number of times I have to hunt through a million tabs to find the one that's blasting old-timey jazz. Usually Mr. Typewriter, which non-typewriter collectors might not be familiar with but, yeah... annoying auto-playing old-timey jazz alert!

Popups and hard to read fonts really annoy me and the only time ill stick around is if the information is unique and can't be found any where else. Normally not the case a poor designed site usually indicates poor content.

Hi thanks for your tips on website development and web designing.

Search Engine optimization helps to improve your website status and Google ranking. Submit your URL to relevant search engines, directories, social bookmarks, articles, blogs, press releases, etc. Your site will reach top rank in Google.

Yes the site shouldn't have popups. I hate it. Font should be readable, font size doesn't matter. I really get annoyed with Background music especially if it hasn't have an option to stop sound. Thanks for info.

One thing you forgot is the annoying spokesman. Especially the ones you can't turn off or at least mute! :crash:

I also hate the spokesman. The other thing that really annoys me is a splash page on a website. It's kinda a waste time especially if it took forever to load the flashy splash page.
