WebHostingTalk (WHT) is down; full db released by hackers

WHT is showing that its down for maintenance this morning. Hopefully, this is part of their recovery process from being hacked Sunday.

No, actually, I wasn't... but I can now tell that people can take it that way.
Recovering a database is never easy and no one would be jealous of what they have to go through. Having said that, the fact that they've been working behind the scenes for over 2 hours is a sign that they are making progress. If nothing was working they would have re-opened the forum and tried again later. Additionally, I think the size of the DB they work with is large and by the time you check everything... ain't a 5 minute job I think.

Yeah I guess you're right. They wouldn't take the forum down for this long unless it would give results.

Most of it is a standard vBulletin message (it is maintenance after all). However, I do think they should have given something more juicy than that. :)
 
Well, WHT is back up, but it's scrambled. I haven't seen an explanation anywhere, so I hope this is part of the process, and not another problem.
 
man all I got to say about the whole WHT hack is that I hope the guy/team go to jail for a long time. what goes around comes around so they have what coming to them.

I was looking for some comments, but haven't noticed any yet.
Some threads are broken - probably because those threads that were created match the ID of those restored... my guess. Its clearly not over yet.
 
Not sure what's been going with WHT this morning. When you select New Posts, it always comes back with - There are NO unread threads.

Have they been able to get all the data they lost in the hack attack??
 
Hopefully for there sakes they get the issues resolved. I know they are a big forum but people are getting sick of it as you can obviously see.
 
I no longer have the interest in WHT I once did because of this whole thing. Guess that's the case with many of us, and a good thing for HD.
 
What still hasn't been corrected is the New Post feature - and I haven't seen an update on recovering the lost data.
