We should make parents take a test before conceiving

Honestly, sometimes I am completely floored by the lack of brain cells that some people have.

So here's a woman who decides to go skydiving when 8 months pregnant. Hell, most pregnant women won't fly the moment they know they are with child. Yet this crackpot decides to jump out of a plane in her final trimester.

I wanted my baby to have the beautiful feeling of flying through the air and free-falling before it was born and give it something really unusual.

What an absolute nutcase.

I think she has demonstrated a complete lack of parental responsibility. As far as I'm concerned, they oughta take the baby away from her. Clearly, she does not possess the grey matter required to properly tend to a child.

I have to agree here Vito.

My wife would flip out to read that. She was very cautious with all four of our children.

You would be surprised at how many women, have this lack of responsibility though.

My wife, from the time she was pregnant with our first, Brendan, became a member at a few of the online baby portals. One of which is BabyCenter.com.

There was a woman there, trying to get the okay to drink alcohol on New Year's Eve. When anyone would tell her it's wrong, she would lash out at them with explainations of why it's her choice, etc. Astoundingly enough however, most of the replies to her post, was telling her "I don't see a problem with it as long as it's just a little bit."....."A little bit won't hurt."......"I drank with my pregnancies, and my kids turned out just fine."

I was floored by these people, and felt so bad for these unborn children who will now run the risk of being born with defects because their mother just absolutely had to get drunk on New Year's Eve, rather than caring for the child that is inside of them.

It truly is sad to know that so many people are so selfish. I am so passionate about protecting children. Your incumbent responsibility as a parent is so glaringly apparent, it makes you dizzy hearing how so many take the job so casually.

I know I shouldn't be linking to another discussion forum, but I think this could be considered an exception.

I read that thread and was totally bewildered by the astoundingly apparent lack of sensibility.

We test people to drive cars, but we give carte blanche to anyone who can fertilize an egg. Amazing.

Some people are idiots -it's as simple as that. I cannot understand why someone would bring a child into world without first reviewing and acknowledging the responsibilities associated.

How can people risk another persons life for the sake of getting drunk? That's got to be one of the most selfish things I've ever heard.

The risk of defects is high enough, however there's absolutely no reason to suggest the child will be cared for once born... Imagine the emotional scares and risks, this child will grow up with..

There's no way tests can be fully implemented, it just isn't practical. People will definately slip by, some would be opposed -claiming the stripping of personal rights. If the test is a simple Q/A or one of those parenting classes (which are actually very good for those with doubts), parents could easily fake responces..

I'm afraid I'm one of the people lacking sensibility. :)

Yet this crackpot decides to jump out of a plane in her final trimester.
On this I agree you though. That woman is irresponsible.

No doubt if the unborn child were somehow injured she would have sued the skydiving company for letting her jump.

She has my vote for a retroactive abortion.

Absolutely no doubt. Sometimes you almost have to wonder if these people have that in their mind to begin with.

Who in their 'right mind' would do something like that? Its absolutely atrocious!

You'd really be surprised at what goes through some people's mind.

For example, a mother to be, who may not have wanted to be pregnant, may also be completely against abortion in the standard form. So, they create this illusion that if it happens while they are doing something completely common, and pretend they didn't do so for the purpose of losing the baby....it makes it all better in their mind, or at least helps them sleep better at night.

Not only do they possibly accomplish this goal, but if they do, they also have grounds for a possible lawsuit, and are then able to gain money for it too.

I know I know, maybe I watch too much NYPD Blue, or CSI lol, but seriously think about how many sick people there are in the world, and this theory sounds very possible and almost common.

Sadly reproduction is (mostly) an inherited biological concept - doesnt so much require the brain as other bits ... in society today we spend far too much protecting the mindless from removing themselves from the gene pool - people who need instructions on kettles like "not to be taken internally" AFAIAC should be allowed to perish , not be aid $millions in lawsuit payouts ...

I was just reading the newspaper and came across a very disturbing article.
A man was randomly pulled over and was required to display his license and registration to police.... However once the opportunity arose, this figure led police on a high speed pursuit resulting in a crash, which the front part of his car was completely torn off. What's disturbing is he had a new born baby (no one than one and a half months old I'd say) in the back, THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE CHASS!

This mom, had to common sense...Most moms don't even do anything when they're pregnanet...just eat sleep... hmm. Thanks for the story.
