Waiting for Palm Pre?

Hey all,

I never owned a smartphone, but I've been an avid user of Palm products to help keep myself organized. For the past couple of years I've been using Palm TX, which is great. I noticed that carrying Palm and then a phone is a bit too much, so I can't wait for Palm Pre to come to Canada (its hitting US market June 6). The phone looks fantastic and by the multiple demos I've watched also functionality superb.

Just wondering if anyone else is planning on getting/upgrading to Palm Pre?

Cheers.

Nah, I plan to stick with my phone. I am not one of those types who upgrades their phone every week becuase a new addition of it came out lol

give us a few screenshots when you get it. I am waiting it, when it comes to the UK, looks like a very good phone :-) and the features look rather good as well :-)

I won't get it that soon. I am in Canada, the phone will become available in second half of 2009 and exclusively on Bell, which is a big no no... I am still considering only because of that.

I’m a big fan of the iPhone, and it hasn’t left my side since purchase nor been turned off for that matter, interestingly enough the software and business packs are very good for the iPhone and despite many of those who prefer a physical keyboard; the iPhone keyboard is very accurate.

I believe a new iPhone is out shortly (this summer) as well as the new software which introduces many new addition, as well as the contract tether with O2 is to end before its release as it has with AT&T, which should see many more people buying them on pay as you go through special offers

Lucky you that you have an idea when its coming out, int he UK they not even got it onto s network just yet. So we will have to wait, I am hoping they have not just rushed this one out and hope they dont have all the problems they had with the Blacberry line... the Palm Pre looks better, from a better company but when its rushed out, it can never be good.

Is there an option to buy an unlocked GSM phone in UK and simply plug it into the network?

you can buy unlock iphones, Tmobile g1 etc.... Go to craiglist bro

That's not what I was asking, but I do appreciate the info.

I was curious if UK residents can buy an unlocked phone not offered through communication companies and plug into their network forcefully that way.

Hey,

Well not heard anything over her ein the UK about it. I did talk to Vodafone as I read some where they maybe getting it but no news. Also I asked the same question on if I could use it on the UK network and the answer was, I may lose some functionality.

You bring bad news to my eyes Artashes. As I would never get it with O2, Only ever had a bad service from them, mainly them billing me £200 for one month, saying it was there error, then refusing to give me a cash refund only a cerdit note. So i guess I will just have to get it unlocked.

It is retailed at $550, so good luck with that. :D
Unfortunately, most telecommunications company would not issue you cash for a reason that money has to go back to the source they arrived from - which is a credit card most probably. If it was a bank account, then they are able to cut a check, but mobile phone companies don't operate with those.

Ouch, Well I may just get an iphone when this contact is up in a few months. Cheaper and better than anything else I have seen so far.
