Is $20 per month for a VPN account cheap or expensive?
********** offers it but I have no idea of the price range on this service.

To OP, do you need VPN service from ********** for hiding your IP address.
All in all prices are normal as I have seen even more expensive offers.

For $20 a month you can get a cheap VPS server and request the host to allow you to use a tunneling device, then you can setup openVPN and you can use the VPS server for other services as well like web, email, irc etc.

But that VPS must have VPN option.
Just if the OP doesn't need a VPS but only a VPN.
Or have no enough experience to manage a VPS. That's not very easy and demans some skills.
So ********** seems nice to buy a VPN from plus if you have any questions, you may contact their support to help you.

Well like I always say, ignorance is always expensive.

In any way if ********** provides their VPS accounts for such price, they must provide enough resources for that and I wonder how much their support cost.

Hi,

I have seen providers as low as $10/mo and as high as $40/mo.

Some important things to consider would be:

1) Encryption level. 128bit is the lowest I have ever seen anyone provide, but 2048bit is really much more secure.

2) Bandwidth that is included. Some of the low cost providers include a very very small amount of bandwidth, and then try to upsell you to a higher priced package.

3) Reputation is important as well. I have heard of companies "snooping" traffic and that of course is not what you want.

4) Is the IP address dedicated to you, or will it change? This may or may not matter to you. Many people use their VPN's to have a dedicated IP so they can lock down their servers or services to only allow access from their VPN IP address.

I hope that helps.
