unlimited bandwidth

There is no such thing as unlimited bandwidth as someone has got to pay for them.

If a hosting provider is offering unlimited bandwidth, chances are they are going to put in the Acceptable User Policy somewhere that there is a cap of some sort.

However, for unmetered bandwidth, now that is a different story.

Hi,
Whenever a web host's site states that they offer unlimited bandwith, make sure to read the AUP/TOS to get an idea of how their unlimited bandwith plan works. Webmasters everywhere usually have had troubles with unlimited bandwith hosts when it comes to heavy bandwith usage.

sudhanuj :)

Unlimited is not possible but unmetered is possible bcoz bandwidth is a commodity that someone needs to pay for eventually. Companies offering unlimited bandwidth do not last for a long time in the market. So, don't prefer such companies and nothing in the world is unlimited.

I agree with james-A. Unlimited word is a marketing scam. As he mentioned, unmetered bandwidth at a constant connection speed is possible. This however, applies to dedicated server customers, not shared hosting customers.

Unmetered bandwidth is possible only for the dedicated servers and on shared account it is as dishonest as unlimited.

Unlimited bandwidth doesn't exists, it's just a marketing startegy to attract more clients. Go through the TOS of hosts who offer unlimited bandwidth and you will find some restrictions. There is always a catch involved in such offers. Unmetered dedicated servers are the only thing that won't be deceptive advertising to the client.

unlimited is just a gimmick to get you to sign up with a host.. usually there is some sort of restriction attached to it.. like you may not be able to host mulimedia files and images.. or you might have only a certain amount of bandwdith alloted every month....

contact them ask so if I used up to 10mbps per month will it be any problem anot ... heheh sure no reply with such question send to a webhost that provide unlimited bandwidth

Unmetered is pretty simple. The host caps your port to a certain speed, and that is all you're going to be able to push. If you were on a 20mbps connection, for example, you'd be able to push a maximum of around 6600GB per month, if you were pushing the max 24/7. So it's clearly not unlimited.

So in the case of unmetered Bandwidth your limited by your connection speed and not bandwidth limits.

Hi, I have received some help from this site so far that has been helpful and I have a question again about bandwidth.

Is there a difference in bandwidth usage between somebody uploading and somebody downloading files from your site or is it all considered using X amount?

Also, if you do not have any files being up'd or downloaded from your site by your visitors and all you have are page views. What kind of bandwidth would you need to have 1000 vistors viewing your site per day?

Can you buy the bandwidth so that it is gauged by the daily usage rather than the monthly usage so that users can return the following day as your bandwidth usage limit restarts?
