Every business today needs an online presence. It is vital to the success of all types of service and product providers.Keep Top Ten Factors When Choosing a Host.

1. How much space:
2. Do you need more than one domain name:
3. How much data transfer do you need:
4. Do you need SSL, MySQL, and shopping cart:
5. Windows/ Linux server which do you prefer:
6. Which do you need--Dedicated or shared server:
7. Do you require technical support:
8. Does the service provide one or more email accounts:
9. Up to date scripting programs:
10. Support for popular builders:

I'm surprised that support is so far down on your list. Also, in a top 10 list, price should be a factor in there somewhere - not #1 or #2 but surely #5? Also, if you're dealing with businesses going online, then they need to be concerned with PA-DSS Software and PCI Compliant Servers. Uptime should be a concern, and reputation, lenght of time in business, support systems etc should definitely be ranking factors too.

No mention of disaster recovery, VPS, semi-dedicated plans or colocation. Disaster recovery is a must if you intend to grow your business long term. :)

But one thing is for certain the "top ten" questions in the OP's post definitely is tailored to the "top hosts" he is promoting in his sig.

My suggestions, IMO, for choosing a top list hosting company:

1) Don't choose a host on a top list.
2) Never, ever choose a top list hosting company promising unlimited space and bandwidth.
3) If you decide to choose a host on a top list, don't be surprised when they suspend your account (without warning) for using minimal CPU and memory resources.
4) If you choose a top list host with 2,500 domains on your server, don't expect your site to load quickly.
5) After you choose a top list host off a top list site, the promoter of the site will be laughing all the way to bank that he just made $50-$100 bucks off you and could really care less it it was a quality host for your needs or not.

He's not the first newbie I see on forums with ********************* in his signature. Perhaps they'll learn, perhaps they won't. We'll see. :)

I have seen the same site being promoted on many different forums as well. Even if the chap promoting ********************* in his sig changes his market methods or disappears, 10 new people will appear using the same tactics.

Why don't you guys remove those signatures than?

I would have preferred to separate the conversation because its a bit off topic, but since you asked, here is why. Primarily because no rules are being broken per se, or at least we don't have enough evidence to prove it. If we had solid proof of spam tactic, trust us, we'll be so fast to act it is not even funny. :shaky:

However, not all cases require us to collect proof, if we feel that a member is here posting fluff with SEO-friendly signature links, we wouldn't keep those around for long. As per the rules of this forum (people see it in bold red type during the registration): "If you are here to build signature backlinks, signature will be deleted on all of your posts and your profile page." From experience we know how to tell the difference as those typically have similar characteristic.

At the end of the day, we trust the good sense and logic of members and visitors to tell the difference between quality and scam, and we advice everyone to always act carefully when conducting any e-commerce transaction. It is a public forum/marketplace after all with power given to the people themselves. All we can do is create a pleasant and professional ecosystem for them to conduct business in.

PS: Welcome to the site by the way. :)

Well, the OP was banned in one other forum for spam and had their only post in another forum removed for spam. :(

That does depend on the nature of the posts themselves though. ;)

Exactly. If he were to come here to post Top 10 ways on how to change bathroom piping with related planted links in his signature, it would have been a little more obvious. :D

This thread has gone so off track that it is better off closed.
