I got tired of my old design and entire site(using WordPress). To me it just seemed cluttered. I had some time this afternoon so I put this together: http://tjphippen.com/

Still not quite complete. 1 page, so not much to review, but I'll be integrating FreelanceSuite into it when I get a bit more time.

As always, any feedback is appreciated. :D
 
Simple and I like it. You seem to be the expert at that. :)

Clicking on your portfolio - the VPS Guy loads fine, the other two websites don't load at all (one asks for username/password information).

I also don't think that "pointed" line across the screen is needed. The page has no clutter, but the line kind of add it.

I've always wanted to learn how to make that screen-wide color gradient effect and never could. :)

Yeah, I'm aware of the links and will be updating them shortly. I'd likely agree with you on the "dashed line" if that's what you meant?

I'm also looking for a logo. I've made several, but none that I love.(*hint hint to graphic designers)

The gradient backgrounds are pretty simple. Make the gradient in photoshop, then reference my source if you'd like.

I've made some minor changes. Still looking for feedback, but for the most part it does what it's supposed to.
 
I know its not a design comment, but with the previous work images at the bottom, one of them leads to http://www.subhosting.net/, which has restricted access. Maybe just set it so the link brings up a larger version of that image?
Also, the livechat button at the bottom brings up a PHP error.
@the design, I really like it :) Simple, yet effective, and the shade of blue is really nice

Thanks. The subhosting site is to be up with restrictions removed this week(waiting on client). I moved servers last week and forgot to change smarty cache permissions, now fixed. Thanks again.
 
it is nice
one thing, the "menu" is a bit small and it took me some time to understand its a menu.
if you know what i mean
 
I think it looks pretty good, you might want to try putting some kind of a header just to make it look a little more inviting. Other than that, I say great job!
 
looks good but one thing - people have bigger monitors. Seriously though, you need to increase the size of everything. not only that, and this is very big pet peev of mine, you have validation errors both in the html and css.

I think you have good looking site but it could be better

Thanks for the heads up on the validation. I added a few things recently and negated to check them with w3(fixed). You can't please everyone with size :)
