Themed specials

Is Santa coming to visit your hosting clients this year, what about the Thanksgiving bird? Sometimes I see themed specials for all types of companies out there but I am not really sure it works for hosting related companies. Do you really want to have a sleigh up on your site? I guess it might work for some, but I really do not like the idea.

I think I'll absolutely put something holiday related on my Salon's site, but don't see that happening here.

Aww come on, why not? It's cheesy, sure, but it definitely gets people in a festive mood and festive means spendy. We sent out a holiday-themed email blast last week about our new reseller program putting more spending money in your pocket for presents. It seemed to be well-received.

I go all out at the Salon with themes, especially for Christmas - full tree, ornaments hanging from the ceiling, Christmas party (bowling this year), and so on. Even themed salon specials online. But web hosting themes ... probably not going to happen.

We actually DO run some campaigns on our site, and we have our holiday cards that go out to our customers. No sales pitches in holiday cards, that's not what they're designed for!

Here's a portion of the holiday card that was converted into a banner on our website. The postcard was designed by one of our staff members who drew little elf outfits for each of us. We had an overwhelming response from our customers with regards to the mailing. We're currently designing a new one for this year which should be out of press by December 1st and into the mailboxes shortly there after.

It's the little extras that our clients appreciate anyway ;)

:) Figured I'd share... I can see how it can backfire on some companies, but we saw no fallout and instead saw hundreds of thank you emails or cards sent to us. Nice warm fuzzy feelings for everyone ;)

Well it helps alot. Alot of hosting company's get a majority of extra customers when they give promotions on holidays any such

We run themed promotions and everyone loves them, we even give some freebies to customers. Works great both ways.

Yeah, I don't see why it would be a bad idea. Worst case, people harumph and get what they were there to get anyway. I don't think seasonal promotions are going to turn anybody away so what do you have to lose?

I think that holiday advertisments are at your company's discretion. For web-hosting companies, I don't think it hurts to add a little personal touch but don't go overboard.

I liked the elf banner- very cute.
