[Thehostingnews] Data Center Web Hosting Provider, 365 Main, Opens Second Bay Area Facility

San Francisco, California - (The Hosting News) - September 21, 2007 - Data center developer and operator, 365 Main, co-hosted the official opening of its second Bay Area facility, a 111,000-square-foot building located less than 10 miles from its founding data center in San Francisco.

365 Main bought the Oakland facility near Jack London Square, in January and leased one-third of its real estate within the following 90 days. Since then it has invested heavily in electrical and mechanical infrastructure and has continued to sell space as it has become available.

Chris Dolan, CEO of 365 Main detailed, ''While we've enjoyed tremendous leasing activity at the Oakland building since day one, we've made significant upgrades to meet our strict standards for power, cooling, connectivity and security. We look forward to offering an 'up close and personal' view inside a modern data center facility. The building isn't entirely finished, but demand is so high that the decision to officially open our doors for business was an easy one.''
San Francisco's Six Apart, the leading independent blogging software and services company, has been a tenant at 365 Main's San Francisco data center for nearly two years and recently expanded its footprint to the Oakland facility.

Lisa Phillips, Director of Operations Engineering at Six Apart noted, ''Leasing additional space in Oakland allows us to support our growth in what is a rapidly expanding market. Having experienced the operational quality of 365 Main's San Francisco data center, it was a logical decision.''
365 Main also announced that several connectivity providers, including AboveNet and IP Networks, Inc. (IPN) have chosen to extend their networks and have laid fiber from 365 Main's San Francisco data center to the new building in Oakland. For existing customers such as Six Apart that lease additional space across the bay, the fiber provides access to the more than 20 connectivity providers available at the San Francisco facility.

Gary George, President of IPN commented, ''We chose to make this investment because we know 365 Main attracts high-profile tenants that want to maintain a single Web presence - even when housed in multiple facilities. We're looking forward to this grand opening to showcase how we can extend connectivity beyond the walls of a single data center.''

Ronald V. Dellums, Mayor of Oakland noted, ''By welcoming companies like 365 Main into the fabric of our economy, we have made a significant step forward in our efforts to become a twenty-first century Model City. Oakland has made a substantial investment in technology infrastructure and is excited about the business this world-class data center is already bringing to our community.''
