The value of internal links?

For all of the SEO gurus - what's the value on internal hyperlinks on a blog (pointing to the home page) with anchor text matching to what you want to convert in Google AdWords?

Internal linking can certainly help you organically, but just like anything when it comes to SEO, do it in moderation and don't abuse it. Remember that internal links are supposed to help your visitors navigate your site. Keep in mind what's best for your visitors and it shouldn't be an issue!

Internal links definitely help you in SEO but as mentioned they should be used with caution. To use them as advantage in SEO they should be relevant to the site content and not over used.

You should also have some outbound links on the website and a high page rank to increase the effectiveness of those links. You can check your page rank by downloading a toolbar from Google.

There's still value in doing it, but not as much value had the link been from an external location. Using your main anchor words to flow from page to page can assist with ranking.

Now, when it comes to Google Adwords, the price you pay is decreased if the words you are going after are included on the page you link to. You get bonus points if the words are included in the ad copy itself.

At that point, linking that phrase to the main page (or sub-page) of your site can help the visitor find what they need. I'm not aware of any increased gain to adwords positions for exact match query in the ad copy, but it's certainly something to explore.

Inner connecting can certainly help you naturally, but just like anything when it comes to SEO, do it in control and don't misuse it. Keep in mind that internal hyperlinks are expected to help your guests get around your website.

Internal link to homepage with anchor text can hurt your site ranking. I read mat cutts on this topic. May be because more and more internet marketer trying to exploit this technique. So a site wide link on your footer might do the same to your site.

What are "mat cutts"...?

I wouldn't think internal links back to your home page for a blog would make much difference.

Internal linking definitely helps in SEO. It increases and shows the importance of each page of your website and how they are linked with each other.

If you have a large site with a lot of content, than internal linking will help. But if you have a small 5 page sites with 100 links between these 5 pages, Google will not like that.

It depends on the blog and on your luck. Also some links might be placed on pages not so well seen by search engines but on sites that have traffic.
Ask for a price. It's simpler this way.

This is a very good discussion. I have seen a lot of websites which have many links, when you use the link: command pointing from their inner pages, and they surprisingly count as backlinks. If using text links, with the right anchors, such hyperlinks would be much better than image links even with Alt attributes. Another benefit is helping the homepage gain PR, because as you know, sometimes inner pages have high PR and direct links help the front files.

From SEO aspects too, using links to homepages of websites and blogs, especially when moderating huge portals like forums with thousands and blogs with hundreds of pages, will gradually help the homepages have better position in the niche. This can be one of the reasons why footer areas of many websites have been totally dedicated to creating pars of links, pointing to major areas of websites, including their critical homepages.
