The SAS (and other special forces)

In my view people who work for special forces (especially the SAS) don't get the credit they should. Sure, all SAS members are anonymous and I respect that but in hole the SAS itself (and others like the SBS and GSG-9) should be getting a lot more respect than what they do. A lot of people working for these organizations have lost their lives (in fact most of them do) and they barely do anything else then work and fight.

The Iranian embassy siege is an excellent example of SAS soldiers doing what they do best. Hostage rescue missions.

What do you think of people who work for organizations like the SAS, Navy SEALS, Spetsnaz and many others?

Also, lets not forget the Norwegian MarineJegere, GrenseJegere, SpesialJegere and FalskjermJegere.

Special Air Service. They are the most elite counter terrorist unit to date. A terrorists worst nightmare is getting the SAS on their tale.

They have SAS selection every year where about 100 sign up, but only a hand full make it through the first month of a 6 month selection (I think it was six months) and some times none do. Nobody goes through as tough a training as they do.

The French foreign legion teaches the soldiers discipline by making them do pointless tasks all day long and punish them if they do, but why bother when you can teach them respect for their leader and job like in the SAS. In my view that's much more effective.
