Lets face it you konw your with the right host when your website is up and running all the time. At 8:am when your just getting into work, at noon and at 4:pm when ever you click on your website it is there working. Thats how you konw you got the right hosting company.....
 
That is a major part of it, granted. If you're growing, you also need to take into consideration if you can grow with that provider. One of my largest colo clients is with us because they outgrew their previous provider.
 
I always hate when I check my site at 11:00 PM and its not working. Yea, having a good web host is key to doing good business.
 
Thats the right way to count the uptime of any hosting organization providing shared hosting services. However if they should have any maint. window they should update their all customers regarding it keeping the ball rolling smooth.
 
I am starting a web host and are main aim is to have less clients per node and each node a separate help desk. Simple easy and ensures very fast response to tickets and is surprisingly easier to manage a few seperate nodes than one main node. So far I have had no downtime but my company is very young still hope my reliability continues :) but less clients per node = more uptime. Easy way of looking at.
 
I'd say connectivity and resolving tickets in a timely manner with no hassel. The best companies I believe are the ones that work with you one on one when you're having a problem.

If your web host is one of the top 10 web hosting providers rated by real customers maybe we could say you have the best web host.
But in in another instance if your business grow and one of the contributing factor is your web provider...then you have chosen right.
 
I would say that your site being working all the time is the prerequisite of any hosting provider. It is the ability to troubleshoot and instant customer support that makes a provider stand out in the crowd.
 
Instant customer support is important for any customer.
It's one of the main things of the successful business.

It is always difficult to find a right host for our hosting services. Each host has some or the other plus and minus. It is always good to have lots of reviews and collect more information about a host before choosing them.
I had a lots of reviews before choosing my host. And finally i selected a good hosting company . Its been more than a couple of years since i have hosted my website from them. And i haven't faced any hard times from them till date. I get a good hosting service and 24/7 customer support from them.

You just have to really do your research before ooking for a host. But remember that one mans trash is another mans gold, and vice versa. So what may be good for John may not be good for Mary
 
dont always reply of posted reviews. as you will find most reviews are negative and users usually onl;y go on forums to complain about hosts and very rearly to praise a host.
A lot of hosts will also post fake testimonials on their websites
