I know that there are some Canadians on this forum and it may be of some interest to you.
We had our provincial elections today in PEI.

Prior to today our government was made up of 23 Conservative seats and 4 Liberal seats.

The results are in for today's election and we now have a mirror image.

Liberals 23 Seats Conservatives 4 Seats

A complete reversal. The times they are a changin.

Why do you think the liberals are gaining so much power so quickly? They were just recently (what would seem like yesterday) involved in a sponsorship scandal, and now they are gaining votes...

On a provincial level Art, the Conservative government here had issues on a scale larger than the sponsorship scandal. It has been a culture of incompetence that preceded the 2003 elections but the real issues didn't come out until after the actual votes were counted in 2003.

On a federal level, I think the Liberals are gaining ground because one of the main platforms of the Harper government was accountability and open government. He has proved again and again that he has no interest in accountability.
He is cutting of press access, hiding his deals and basically making a joke of open government.

Harper sold the farm to get elected and the people he courted are turning against him.
But that's a different story.
