Task Management??

I think this is the right forum for this..

More and more my current method of managing tasks(to-do) is getting obsolete. For example. I wake to 10-20 new emails. Most from clients giving me further instruction on their project. I go through and read every email, prioritize, and get to work. The thing is it's hard for me to keep track of everything. Some emails have 1 task, others have 10. So basically what I need is...

A backend my clients can login to and assign tasks to their project. I'd use my current billing system, but the tasks are far too small in most cases to make sense doing it that way.. Most are things like "add this JS to the header", or "use this image instead".. So they need to be able to assign the task to me, set the priority, and once I get in there I can simply go down the list and mark each task as complete as I do so.

This isn't so much of a problem most of the time, but right now I've got more projects than I think I've ever had. I'm up to the challenge, and by no means is anyone suffering. I'd just like to save a bit more time, and save the intense mental issues for coding :)

I don't have the time to code my own system. I'll pay for something that fits my needs, or if anyone can make some recommendations I'd be grateful. Thanks!
 
Have you checked out BaseCamp? I know a lot of people in the web design world that swear by this product to help organize projects and keep things operating as they need.
 
I had experience working with Stuffed Guys' Factory Nova project management software.
Very easy to work with (very intuitive piece of software) with basic functioning and good logic. I would highly recommend!

You might have success with freelancerpanel.com. We have used it before and it works nicely.
 
For me, I do it the old way, Write paper notes, Stock them all on a wall, order them in order of tasks needing to be done and do it that way. It means I am able to see everything that needs to be done and for me, its the best way to manage what needs to be done.

But, for large projects or for a mass of e-mails from users I have started to use Project to allow me to orgainse the work load.
 
I'll preface this with the fact that I'm a long time programmer...

Check out OnTime from Axosoft http://www.axosoft.com/ - it's geared more towards developers, but I've found it handy for the web side as well. There are tasks, incidents, feature requests, etc. The 1 user Pro version is free, and the 5 user Express version has been on sale for a while now at $5. But it does require a windows box somewhere.

One of the best features for me, is that I have it looking at an email account. I can fire off a short email from the blackberry and it's waiting for me next time I log in to expand upon, prioritize, etc. That's handy for thinking of things when computer isnt' available or I just don't feel like getting out of bed at night and I'd otherwise forget about it by morning...
