Not sure if I follow you, but Yes, it is possible to buy a domain name and web hosting separately from 2 different companies.

For domain name purchases you can use companies like:
GoDaddy.com
NameCheap.com

For paid web hosting, I suggest searching Google for:
"affordable web hosting" or "cheap web hosting", or screen our Shared Hosting Special Offers forum at HostingDiscussion.com

For free web hosting, I suggest searching Google for:
"free web hosting". In most cases, it will be ad-supported (thus your pages will display advertising).

Each hosting company provides you with their own nameservers that look like this: NS1.COMPANYNAME.COM and NS2.COMPANYNAME.COM. All you can do is log-into your domain registrar and edit the Nameservers to those provided by your hosting company. On average, it takes 24-48 hours for the domain to become active.

Best,

Yea buying a domain name and getting hosting service from elsewhere is obviously possible and for a piece of advice I would say that in future also if you plan to get a paid hosting service you should buy the domain name separately from somewhere else and not the same hosting company as many service providers tend to bind their customers to their hosting service as the domain name is registered on their company’s name and you don’t own it.

Just to clarify this a bit: that's indeed their usual form, but it can differ. The nameservers to use will be provided by the host in the welcome email, so wait for this email before you do any changes. The nameservers point your domain to the appropriate server.

thanx

thanx to all of u ppl who replied to my query ,, i m really thankful to u guyz for sum nice and gud suggestions also.

In your case, yes, you own the domain.
What he tried to share with you is that there are firms out there that will trick you into giving you a free domain if you host with them - sometimes they will keep the domain "hostage" since they purchased it, not you.

.....and for that reason may be you have to continue with their hosting service in future even if you don't want to.

Yet there are many hosts that will register the domain in their name, but release it to you even if you cancel early, for a fee (usually about $20). This is usually governed by the TOS of the host, so read it carefully.

Well I would not recommend buying a domain through registry fly, enom pulled their reseller license for their lack of customer support and got tired of supporting registry flys customers. Now registry fly did become their own registrar, but the core issue is still there on why their reseller license was pulled in the first place.

Sometimes propagation can be a lot quicker and only take 2-4 hours. But on rare occasions it can take 24-48 hours :). Propagation for the most part has got a little quicker over the last couple years.

Te domain name and the hosting plan is two different things. You buy hosting, and use it with your present DN, then you change the company and take your site and your DN to another one. DN it's like you internet pass you aways take it from one server and hosting company to another.

I'd highly suggest going back to school or finishing it before launching a hosting company.
