Sub-domain registrars - hot or not?

I am just wondering whether you as hosting providers, or just Internet users, find the idea of sub-domain registrars appealing?

www.co.cc being one of the most popular services attracted millions of domain registrations. The question is - have you ever had experience yourself or through your clients that come to you with a .co.cc domain for example? I know that one of the prime reasons why these registrations are so popular is because most of them are free and attract clients that would host prozys or some other negative content. Do you block/disallow free sub-domains to be hosted? Does it cause a red flag to go up when you see one? What is your general attitude toward sub-domain registrars?

Personally I'd say "Not" but as Artashes said above get a nice .co.cc as they are free. And there's lots available.

- Many Thanks,

Good point mate! In the first place, I tried using a free domain at co.cc, but finding some sub-domain registrars are not hot for me though. We'll stick to a reliable web hosting rather than free.

I've registered about 5 of the .co.cc domains, I used theses domains for almost everything, When I was really new in the hosting industry I ran a small reseller host off a .co.cc domain funny right, the only bad thing really about it was that you can have custom name servers, I had one for a host, one for gaming and even some more for like my portfolio and little forum sites, But over the past months I have cut them down and gotten a .com or .net domain. I sometimes have some clients come to me that are around the age of 15-13 and they coem with a .co.cc domain, I mostly host gaming sites like ladders or forums and even team sites. Mostly gaming because I know a lot of people that play gaming and open up a team. But after a while when there using that .co.cc domain or .co.nr domain they would but a .net domain after a couple of months.
