Software to run any picture scanner

Hello people do you know any software that allows you to scan pictures and documents with any scanner brand or model?,well and that is free?

My scanner came with the program itself, I thought most did. What kind of scanner do you have?

The software was uninstalled and it didnt work back again never,I heard many people with hp scanners have the same problem and most of them didnt solve it,on my side I cleaned registry and the software appeared back 50 porcentage so maybe I can do it with more patience but still looking for other software that allows me to scan with this printer regardless of brand and model
