Softaculous scripts Demos

Hi there,

I just read at Softaculous website,

"Softaculous maintains the Demos of all scripts that it can Install. We know choosing the right piece of software is very important for web hosting customers and how can one choose without ever trying the DEMO! So to make things simpler Softaculous maintains demos users to browse through the scripts and then choose the right script for themselves. "

That sounds pretty nifty, does anyone have working experience with that feature?
Do the Demos upgrade automatically every time there's an update?

Thanks,

Mixed results really.
Some of their demos appear not to work occassionally.
But mostly they do work and help customers choose what to use their webspace for!!!
Installatron also offer this feature, but don't make as much of it!

For us, MOST of the demos are broken. I know that we've received complaints from users regarding this in the past so we took many of the common scripts, set them up on a testing hosting account and then we have a reset script that resets the demo each hour. It's not perfect but when users click demo and they get either a 404 error or a failed login page, that can be a big turn off in itself.

I remember asking the folks at Softaculous regarding this a long time ago and I want to say that the response was that they use the demo of the authors sites, so if theirs was down it was down. I never moved forward with questions after that (that was about a year ago).

We still use (and love) Softaculous. It is still one of the better moves that we made for our clients who needed to install scripts with just a click of a mouse!

As mentioned some of their demos do not work, but the software itself is great. They update scripts extremely fast and would prefer it over fantastico.

Most of the demos will not work properly until you delete their install files/directory. If you have demos that are not working, try this and see if that fixes them so your clients can see what they're installing first. :)

Can't be specific about their demos. Sometimes, some demos are broken, other times all are working fine. Anyway, the demo feature is just an added goodies... The script (softaculous) itself is pretty awesome :D

Demos may bring great convenience to customers who are not familiar with Softaculous,so it might as well work fine always .
