Social Networks Activity: It's all about consistency

Social Media is a trend. This is not necessarily bad. When trends come up, people rush to follow them. They see what others are doing and copy them. Again, this is not necessarily bad unless you do it in the wrong way.

We ‘ve seen Fortune500 companies implementing wrong strategies in Social Networks. We ‘ve seen local companies succeeding and growing because of Social Media.

Here come’s the question. What is the magic key to succeed in Social Media ?

Social Media is like the social life.

Entering a restaurant, a coffee shop, a bar and shouting “HELLO EVERYONE I AM HERE!” will probably humiliate your image rather than bring the people in your side.

A smooth and polite introduction of yourself would make the difference.

But what does consistency has to do with our social media presence?

A common mistake of digital marketeers and marketing directors is that they try to expand in all social media websites at once. There are thousands of social networks out there. Some of them are small, others larger. Few of them are very popular, with millions of visitors traffic and other networks have less but more focused traffic. The point is not just to be everywhere but to know what you are doing in that network and why you want to be there.

Again, a comparison of social media to the social life is applicable. Would you appreciate a guy who jumps in your table, talks about himself and then disappears ? The same is with digital networking. Expand your business in those social networks that are followed by your target group and be consistent:

  1. Post an update minimum once every two days.
  2. “Monitor” the discussions around your name and act responsibly: Commenting on a bad review is better rather than deleting the comment!
  3. Concentrate only in few subjects and stick with them. It’s like when you go out for a drink. Most of the times the selection of place is based on the music genre; if its not standard then the bar loses its dedicated followers.

These are some really valid points regarding social media. You can't hit them all so do a few well. It is important to update consistently and to post valid information.
The importance of having a presence every few days is not unlike calling or texting your pals. Social networkers can forget you very quickly if they don't see you often.

consistently and each time focusing at specific once to make them really great, rather then do many but at lower quality. That's critical for SM marketing.

yep

You have to balance your time out . And trying to get 5 sites on social media firing on all 4's , its better to start with the 2 big ones then build those and move on to smaller ones.

I use Social Bookmarking quite extensively and has seen lot of traffic to some of my websites. I do these with some automated software which sends me backlinks from 100s of sites. My top traffic sources are
1. Youtube
The beauty with youtube is that your video will rank very high in Google for a given keyword if done properly. I have seen my video ranking in top 10 within 24 hrs of uploading.

2. Scribd
This website has a very high PR. Any document (with link to your website) upload will immediately rank high with Scribd. For a particular keyword, Scribd and Youtube rank high than the original website)

3. Social Bookmarking

As i said earlier i bookmark my links to more than 200 websites through automated tools. But for beginners (or who do manually) i suggest these top ten Social Bookmarking websites.

1. Reddit
2. Digg
3. Delicious
4. StumbleUpon
5. Folkd
6. Netvibes
7. Tumblr
8. Facebook
9. Myspace
10. Friendfeed

4. Email Marketing

This is my last traffic strategy. This gives me high targeted traffic from my opt in list.

Artashes, if you Google "Best racing simulator seat" you will find my video at No#1 (with quotes) and No#8 (without quotes).

The video title is "World #1 Game racing simulator seat." The fun fact is that this video ranks higher than the original website. (I am an affiliate of that website).
