Snow Snow Snow!

We've gotten 17inches thus far of snow. Had to scrape the driveway 'cause my underbody would've gotten stuck. But, I got my car out :)

Local News Site

On Monday we had freezing rain and an half an inch of ice covered my car.

Oh it's friggin' crazy here. We've gone from 60F weather to Freezing Rain, to snow now. They're talking about more rain next week. Not snow, rain. We'll see how it goes.

I think the storm you just got is now just starting to slam us here (thank you for sharing ... hahaha) I guess we are just living up to the nickname "The Great White North" :) Thankfully ... I have a neighbour who generously comes over and blows out my driveway after the heavy snowfalls. One of the big drawbacks of living in the country ... LONG driveways in winter :)

Someone around the office here said that more is being predicted tonight...we'll see. I had little faith we'd get more than 3 inches, and look how that turned out.

17 inches of snow is extreme! Even for Canada that is quite a lot.

Depends where in Canada you live hahaha You of all the members should know that :)

Back in the mid-70's the company I worked for in Vancouver BC sent me up to Fort St. John to manage their office up there for a few months during the winter. Walking to work every morning (only 6 or so blocks) ... it was like walking in a tunnel most of the time. Come out the front door and the snow was up to roof level of the house on either side (it was a bungalow). Never before and never again will I ever live in a place that you can experience THAT much snow.

Thankfully ... the storm that had begun to "slam" us yesterday stopped as quickly as it started. Guess we were lucky and only received a glancing blow :) I am not at all upset about it ;)

I'm sore today, no more snow, but the snow trucks had pushed a good amount of snow and blocked our driveway. So I had to rescue it when I got home last night, in the dark, when all the snow had gotten hard and crusty.

Now I'm sittin' at work aching. Feel sorry for me! :( :)

The last time I've seen that kind of snow was about 2 years ago. The Eastern US was hit with a freak blizzard.

I remember when I realized it was happening. I woke up in the morning, and my wife says "Hey Mark, it's snowing pretty hard out, and the wind blew our shed door open....wanna run out real quick and shut it." So, just waking up, I had sweats on, and just threw on some shoes, and a sweatshirt, and went running out to the shed......face first into a 6ft wall of snowdrift lol. Of course, my wife couldn't stop laughing at me.

By the time I had finished my morning shower, got dressed, and was ready to go to the office, the snow , and the snowdrift had covered almost 3/4 of our door and windows. So I wasn't able to get out of the house.

That took ages to melt man, and when it did, it was a nightmarish mess.

Yeah, there was so much snow that our animals couldn't even go outside. We have a German Shepherd and it didn't want to go in the snow. :)

That sounds like fun actually lol

Welp, the ice came again. This is how last week started off. :-p

I blame it on the tsunamis, this weird weather we've been getting. It was upper 30s over the weekend. O_O

I'm getting frustrated, we got about 9 inches last week, then it didnt snow for a week and was 45 degrees yesterday. All of the snow melted, and then it snowed all day today, giving us 2 more inches. It's not 8 degrees :( I dont like weather...

Definitely real STRANGE weather. Yesterday it was up in the 60's F (18 C) here ... most of the snow melted. Then last evening it dropped in a few hours to about 16 F (-8 C) and snowing. Today ... bright sunshine ... and still about 16 F (-8 C) and its almost noon. Go figure !?!?!?!

They had a report on Moscow's weather last night on the news ... no snow ... temps in the 50 F range ... ducks swimming in ponds. Same with St. Petersburg. Talk about weather anomilies (sic). They interviewed a couple snow & ice carving teams that are over there for a yearly competition. Instead of it being a snow carving competition its now an ice carving one ... and they are just praying the sculptures don't melt before they can be judged. So ... its the weather all over it seems that has gone screwy.

The tsunamis are to blame - I think - as we didn't have goofy weather until they started hitting. Now the world wobbles while it spins and it spins faster, days are shorter by like a second or two I believe. It's just crazy, and I think that's what's causing all the strange weather.
