Smoothen Walls

I'm thinking of remodelling one of the rooms in my home however the wall has been painted, wallpapered who knows how many times since it was built 35 Years ago that the wall is no longer smooth. Before I sell I want to remodel that room any suggestions on how to make the wall smooth without re-plastering the entire room from scratch?

Tear down as much of that crap as you can, or sand it off.

Then put up drywall (finished side out), then repaint it or wallpaper it to your liking. You will have yourself a "brand new" wall so to speak, that looks as though it was just built.

My wife and I are preparing to remodel our new house as well, before we move into it, and this is the procedure we'll be going through soon as well, for pretty much the same reason.

Thanks Mark. I'll start the project as soon as possible. I'm glad I won't need to do much 'Repairs' at my new home as the houses are rather new. Infact the location has only exsisted for about 25 years before that it was just fields.

Our's is just the opposite when it comes to age.

Our new place is actually a house that has been in my wife's family since before her parents were born.

She really wanted the house to stay in the family when her grandmother passes, so we pretty much took over the task of making sure that happens.

I have a few walls to remodel, walls to add (in the bathroom to convert a bath to a shower/bath), a basement to seal, new carpet to lay down, walls to paint, and new tile to lay in the kitchen and bathroom.

You don't watch Home Remodling Channels by any chance? :p Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. Sounds like your highly skilled at home remodeling.

Still ontopic of Homes. Are prices increasing rapidly in the US/Canada?

Never watch them lol, just love to do the stuff. Of course there is a lot I don't know how to do when it comes to remodelling, but I see it as something my wife and I can have fun doing together.

The prices aren't really going up much. However, property taxes go through the roof where I live.

That's good to know, I find it a breath of fresh air that couples are finding time doing things together that they enjoy but I'm sure you have your own individualities. I am a Psychologist and a Sociologist and noticed that too many couples can never find a balance.

UK prices are becoming very expensive yet it’s interesting to see so many people still try to immigrate to the United Kingdom. We are having problems with pregnant teenagers getting their houses paid for them because they've been 'Kicked Out' which has raised the bar on prices.

I'm not sure if the U.S really believes the word Expensive compared to the UK, Especially 'Gas'. Haven’t researched if what's in the American Term 'Gas' and the British Term 'Petrol' are exactly the same but I've seen complaints that you’re paying $3.00 a Gallon for gas; While we are paying £0.86 = $1.60 per litre for Petrol.
