Singlehop Has Had Downtime For Over 1 Hour!!!! :(

All my servers and customers websites hosted in Singlehop have been down for 1 HOUR!!! This is real bad for my business and the worst part is Singlehop.com is ALSO down and there's no way for me to contact them...

I am very upset about this since lots of my customers are complaining about this serious downtime.
 
That's to bad about the downtime you and your clients suffered. I always though SingleHost was a decent datacenter. I don't have any servers with them but, never seen anything horrible about them on forums.

I don't understand why web hosting companies don't have their main website backed up somewhere else for reasons such as this. This will help keep clients updated and reduce the frustrations.

Any word from Singlehop about the cause of the downtime?
 
ya crap like that can happen to anyone - it does not mean its bad!

- i don't like the answer as there should have been bgp with 2 separate routers and paths - but i bet the is the coles notes short version
 
Downtime is inevitable in this business, or at least you should "plan like that". Your clients should know that as well.
 
Backups for what?
The network went down, they came back up in a reasonable time frame.
I don't think backups would have done the OP any good unless the host went down completely.
 
Downtime happens. How long and how the host deals with it are factors that attribute to controlling churn.
