SEO Basics

Today I will try to provide a basic understanding on how to improve SEO on your site. The guide is very basic but might help newbies

1. Title Tag: Title tags are HTML elements found in the <head> section

This is the most important and powerful Tag for SEO. They appear in search engine results, Social media posts, unfurled chat messages and browser tabs. Search bots first and foremost looks in the title tag to determine the relevancy of the page as a result in the search query

What should be followed:

• Length: Keep it short but it should precisely say what your web page is offering. Should be 50-60 characters in length.
• Avoid cringy content: Like all in uppercase or using smiles
• Utilize your brand: Consider having your brand name in the title tag

If google does not like your Title it might change it during search and in most cases, you will not like it.

2. Meta Description: This is the description that search engines display under the title in search results. It is the <meta name="description" content=" "> tag in the head section.

What should be followed:

• Length: Should be between 70-160 characters space including.
• Content: Should provide a concise description of all your content in the web page
• Unique: Should be unique for each web page. Otherwise google might mark pages as duplicates and will not index them.

3. Keyword: Although you can have the <meta name="keywords" content=" " /> tag, but using the right key word in even the title and description can do wonders.

What should be followed:

• Do not repeat keywords: Google can easily detect unnecessary repetition of keywords and this can result to de-ranking.
• Do not use stop words like AND, BUT, SO, WAS, WITH.
• Use action words like GET, TAKE, BOOST, LEARN, MAKE, GO.
• Check for keywords that your competitors are using

Just to clarify, NONE of the items in the Original Post actually help SEO itself. They help standing out in the search results pages, but the actual effect of helping your rankings is very very VERY minimal.

Content on the page is the influence, not Title & Description tags.

Titles: Maximum 55 characters
Description: Maximum 140 characters

Anything more than those lengths that they will be cut off. The numbers quoted above are from several years ago.

Google keep changing its search algorithm, so i guess no one could ever find out the real secret behind ranking. Of course there is some ways to get better ranks like being mentioned on a popular site, it will boost your rank immediatly

Hello,

1) Guest Blogging
2) Forum Participation
3) Content Revamp
4) Video marketing
5) Create Unique content

Im pretty shocked that this is still the answer to seo related questions for websites.

In the few years ive been in this industry the suggestions here were already old news and in those few years algorithms changed so many times. It will also continue to do so.

Google doesnt want people "knowing how to rank" it wants you to naturally acquire a good ranking.

Why? spammers and most businesses would if they knew a six or 30 point list to great seo would spam the serps all day long.

This means a bad user experience for search engine users, the people who get advertisers to pay google.

If they leave, advertisers leave and google is done.

So what does google do? They make it a constantly changing system and one on which they reveal very little even on the things about seo we do know they hardly ever say YES THIS WILL BOOST YOUR RANKING.

There is a much bigger picture behind seo than your little business the general webmaster needs to understand that google is protecting it assets.

The only way is providing simply a useful site one that would make a searcher say wow great answer google il use you again.

The more users they have because of great search results, the more advertisers they will get, the more money they make. In a nutshell thats what it all comes down to.

Give google good content and they will use your website to make their search engine look good.

Provided its needs to be marketed and shared but its so much easier promoting great content than not so great content.
