I'm freelancer. I'm doing websites. Now I need possibility to give some webhosting to my customers. I know about reseller programms. I have learn about that a lot.
I consider **************.com reseller package . At the same time they offer semi dedicated servers .
I just don't which one to choose for my needs.
Any help is appreciated.

With their semidedicated package you can't give your end users access to their own control panels (so that they can setup email addresses etc. on their own if they want to), but with their reseller hosting packages you can.

Personally, I'm not convinced of the long term sustainability of their reseller hosting offer.

I would suggest you to go for a managed server. You will not need to do the server admin work and can focus on business.

Reseller program is for just that, reselling web space. Semi-dedicated accounts are usually for one domain, but provide or guarantee less users per server, but you will not be able to have multiple control panels.

If you are not into maintaining your own server (even if it comes with server admin packages, you still have to do quite a bit yourself), a reseller package is perfect imho. Another option is a vps server, but I still think reseller packages are easier because they will maintain the server for you and restart it when its down, etc... VPS and your own server both will require extra time to maintain compared to a reseller package.

Yeah, with the reseller, its usually for little amount of users, and you cant install the software you want.So you decide.

Since you design and develop websites and you wish to offer hosting to your customers, a reseller plan would be ideal for you as your customers would get separate control panel for their websites and you will get WHM access to create and manage all the accounts under the reseller package,

Semi Dedicated hosting users share the full CPU and RAM of the server which gives them flexibility to run big websites without overloading the server.

Only as long as the site's usage peaks are relatively short leaved. Semi dedicated hosting is essentially still shared hosting.

Well unless your making good profit and have LOTS of clients to host, a dedicated server isn't worth it. I'd personally go with a reseller hosting account to atleast start off, then if you really really do require a dedicated server, you can go ahead and get one.

I think it's better to start from a reseller account. **************.com has quite nice reselling offers. They even offer free domain names for life. And prices aren't very high ($10 per month).

I would highly recommend a reseller account, it would be a perfect fit to what you are trying to accomplish.

Start with a reseller account, then once you get enough business move on up to a vps, then dedicated this way your finances will be in order as you grow. I've seen quite a few people try to jump too fast and end up paying more then they could handle.

Let us know what you decide on.

ya...although i am not fond of reselling very much.....but i think you should start off with a reseller account....just to get the basic understanding of the business and then move up.

Go for a reseller plan without a doubt, as for $10 you'll get 50GB of disk space, 500 GB of traffic, free personal DNS, and the possibility to host unlimited websites under one account, while in **************.com semi-dedicated plan that costs $35 you'll get less features.

With a semi dedicated you pay for the lighter loaded system and availability of server resources, not features. You pay $10, you can expect $10 worth of service.

Anyway I think reselling is much better than semi-dedi. At least you may earn some sum of money being a reseller from **************.com.

Hi,

I would recommend starting on the Reseller package because it would always be easier to upgrade to a semi-dedi or a dedi after a while if you feel you are outgrowing the reseller package. Also you did need to pay more money than you need to by taking on something like a dedicated server if you don't need to.

I think you may be choosing between reseller and VPS rather than reseller and semi-dedicated, how are you going to manage your clients' sites with no root access? And one more, do you need custom-branded server or you don't mind your clients know you are reselling from **************.com?
