Hey....I agree totally 100%
SEO techniques are not as difficult as the so called 'SEO experts" would have you believ.
The biggest thing I find is spending a few minutes daily 'tweaking' your keywords your title- description etc.
Be sure that you are NOT spamming your keywords. You are allowed to use the same keyword upto 6 times usually before it is considered spamming.
That is one simple thing to check immediately.

Use keywords in your title effectively as well as your description.
Those are a couple easy ways things to do to improve your rankings and traffic flow.

MSN seems to me at least to be a little more liberal- where as Yahoo and Google are less forgiving! But you can chip away 1 step at a time to improve rankings.

I also believe that everyone who has a website or a blog should be sure that they have ADSENSE Ads placed on Keyword rich pages!

I mean--it is free money and adds more content to your pages and can really add up!

MOD NOTE: Self promotion in this post has been removed.

Anyways...have fun!

The site s you are going to trade links should be not only non-competitive but also thematic and relevant.

Thats one of the worst things a webmaster can do in terms of SEO, Google can pick that up and in the best case those link wont effect your ranking at all, your site might even lose its rankings, especially if your exchanging with irrelevant websites.

The tips you provided, while useful for the SEO newbie, it wont help much with getting you rankings, keyword meta tag is useless and Google doesnt even look at it, title tag is useful for MSN but will only bring you rankings for non-competetive keywords, you need to optimize your pages to get a decent ranking.

Very true, good point.

Yes the 2 things to do best is onpage and offpage optimization. Onpage would be title, keywords, and meta tags you can control these the easiest. Offpage is a whole beast on to itself and the hardest to do right IMHO. This includes back linking and such which if the wrong sites are picked can hurt. I have found it very easy to go to the top on MSN and fairly easy to rank well with yahoo but Google I have not mastered yet. I am fully concentrating on Google attack now and testing what changes makes moves. Good article for a beginner though so great job.
