Search Engine Ads

I have ran across a couple of places that state they can get you top listing on search engines like google and yahoo, has anyone done this before? It seems kind of tricky to almost guarantee something like this.....

Back when I was quite interested in SEO, guarantees of getting high rankings were seen as a bad thing. I guess it depends on the nature of the guarantee though.

If it's a monetary guarantee, meaning they're willing to refund (fully or partially) if they don't meet or exceed the levels of search engine derived traffic or rankings for certain keyphrases, I see no issue with that.

I have seen so many sites guaranteeing that they will get you on top, but I've never tried any of them. It seems like that would be a pretty hard thing to guarantee. I don't think that you can count on anything to happen for sure online. With so many different sites like this, and their clients, it would be extremely difficult to succeed at getting up there, or so I would think.

After all the work I've put into promoting sites myself instead of paying I can't even begin to imagine what such results would truly be worth, without using some less than savory practices. I'm sure people could do what they promise, but for the prices you normally see you have to shudder to think how they do it.

Yea that is kind of what I am thinking too. I'm not really sure how they can 100% anything but it was worth checking up on. I have seen a couple with insane prices per keyword too.

I don't see how they can garuntee that either. I have never paid for such a service because I am skeptical about what they are offering.

And what good does paying for a keyword do? Is it just the analysis of it?

I hear you on that and I tend to be skeptical at many things online and offline in any type of ad sense. I remember one place though forget the name, they said they will have a client pay about 1000.00 per keyword linked into a Google search result, so say your keyword is "hosting", they 100% that when someone types "hosting" your ad/site/banner will be first displayed on Google results page. I really don't get it, but what I do remember from this site is that their own site looks like phooey to say it nice.

Word of mouth is always good and its free, but sometimes people want to run ad campaigns to see just how well they can really do for em. I see some people get upset with ad words and so on but its not clearly put out there how to use it proper too. Makes it hard for newbies trying to figure the thing out. :D

Focus on your landing page quality and the relevance of your ads and keywords to the landing page. You may not reach the top of the listings, but you'll have an effective campaign.
