Saidhost.com

Has anyone heard anything about saidhost.com regarding their entire operation being shut down?

I had three servers operating at their facility. Now? Completely dead. I understand that a company called level 3 communications completely disconnected them from the internet and they're not answering the phone and level 3 will not cooperate with any of the many people that have called them to find out what's going on.

Anybody?

Thanks,

This domain saidhost has been created this January. I really doubt that this brand new enterprise can be defined as reliable. Ask someone to help you to get your servers back online. My suggestion is to find a few other web hosts and to choose one of them.

Never heard of them, so cant comment directly, but their IP range doenst seem to be announced by anyone but L3 and you cant route to it :(

Have you tried contacting them through the details on their whois ?

And no, L3 will talk to their client (if saidhost was a direct L3 client) not to clients of the client - standard procedure.

Said's direct upstream seems to be TelCove - maybe contact them might help ?

a 1-2 month old hosting company. think they are not serious in business, test the water only.

ok, advice is to look for hosting company that is age more than 3 year minimum. Preferable 5 years and above. Highly recommended by forums users.

I think you didn't do any research before choosing your host.Never heard of this host till now and i guess you have been fooled by them as now-a-days these types of webhosts are just there to make a quick buck and vanish. Anyways try to get any information regarding them from possible sources and demand for a compensation as well if you get in touch with them.

Well I would suggest issuing a charge back for some of your money at least. Explain to your bank that you paid for a service and they did not provide it. Good luck, be sure to check out user reviews on various forums and sites before picking your next host.

SaidCom is now back online and doing business again as SaidHost at saidhost.com. It has taken them from Febuary to now to get back online and they still have only one fiberoptic backbone. I am not recommaneding their serverices as I will never use them again, but you can contact them concerning backups. They have promised backups for our clients.

I have never heard about saidhost.com something bad. Try to ask thrP to tst theirspeed connection.

Follow Up

It's been a while, but I figured I'd follow up to this.

First, thanks to all those who replied. I see these clowns are back up and running. Let me tell you what we had to do. My ex-partner had to drive from Cleveland to Perkasie Penn. with a USB drive in hand, physically show up at their location and download all the information to the drive. We then took it to a non-fly-by-night operation and restored everything. What a nightmare. Fortunately I only lost about 10 out of 70 or so clients, but boy did I have a lot of PO'd people on my hands.

A final word on Saidhost? If they came to me tomorrow, apologized and offered me hosting for life for free, I'd spit in their face.

The old hosting business folded, got rid of the partner, modernbill and all the crap, went back to basics and am once again profitable.

Thanks again everyone.

Phil

Thank you for the update. That sounds like a lot of trouble you went through. It may sound a bit fatalistic, but it seems that there are some lessons that we are destined to learn the really hard way. Luckily, what doesn't kill us, tends to make us stronger. :)

Well said. As another ex-customer I can say I would do the exact same thing.

Wow I am so glad to see that resolved. But I honestly would have charged them mileage. By Law you could have charged it to them and they would have had to pay it.. But seeing as though I do not believe in any unprofessional tactics concerning the business I work for and once had, I won't hve to worry about that. But I just hate to see the stories.. It just makes me sick that people are out there to scam others... :disagree: :disagree:

That is very interesting. Can you tell me which law that is, or point me to some information about it?

Thanks for the replies, everyone. I thought about retaliatory tactics, so to speak, but I guess I just figured, a) good luck getting my money, b) it's just not worth it, and c) I'm now profitable, I've cut my losses and moved on. I have a very realiable company I'm using now, and let me tell you something, it's a relief. I'm just a small honest business looking for an honest profit. The company I'm using now is physically located about 90 miles north, and since I've been using them? Not one single hiccup. I pay $200 per month for 150 domains. It's not the cheapest, but again, it's worth it. It's all managed, and for a small guy like me that designs websites and hosts them, it's cheaper in the long run.

Thanks again, guys.
