It is only natural to be the best version. According to their support forums, they worked a lot to improve some features (well, some of them are minor features, but still...) and to fix two issues regarding a XSS vulnerability in Roundcube's HTML message handling.

I upgraded to 0.8.1 without any issues on my server... It works really well!
