Reseller Dedicated Servers

Due to some issues with our current provider, we have begun the search looking for a new dedicated server provider that will allow us to resell dedicated servers. So far the search has been slightly disheartening given that most expect large volumes to get any kind of price break.

Given that the market is so heavily loaded with vendors who are mostly competing on price, we want to be able to get somewhat favorable pricing, yet remain semi-competitive in the market.

Other than the typical providers: HostGator, HostMonster, Softlayer, The Planet (now a part of Softlayer), Rackspace and GoDaddy, does anyone have any other suggestions we should look at?

Regards.

There's also the single-hop tandem reseller program. They are good company and I have used the program before, great deals and promotions with singlehop.com

Thanks Iky0294 and Hostix. We decided on SingleHop, after not finding too many quality programs out there.

Now the fun part... Programming all of this into the billing server!

not sure if thier is a singlehop mod for CE. I know their is one for WHMCS

also now with singlehop you can also resell their cloud services

CE doesnt have a module sadly. I really like some of the things with CE, but really wish we would have went with WHMCS instead of investing in an owned license in CE.

dont like owned licences for WHMCS as you only get 12 months support and updates then you have to pay $44 a year for support and updates ( not sure with CE) so just keep to monthly

used to resell CE licences when they were $20 for 5 but dont offer these now.

CE doeesn't charge for ongoing support if you get it from one of their resellers, however if you get it direct from them there is now a support charge, but on the plus side is they do allow you to sell your license to someone else and only pay a 20 or 30$ admin surcharge.

However we went with Ubersmith after switching from WHMCS due to a bug with the PDF invoices. We liked Ubersmith however it wasn't exactly the fit we needed and found ClientExec.

There are several features in WHMCS I would love to have but we made a large investment in ClientExec so switching and making another large investment into WHMCS is a bit of a stretch.

yup lifetime licences are steep.

i was with CE when they were $15 but a reseller could get 5 for $20 ( how they worked this out was beyond me) so i resold these then 1 month i was invoiced $57 rather than $20 so i queried this and was told that the stopped doing 5 for $20 and now its 15 for $57, i was not happy as no advanced notice. they told me if i was not wanting to continue then pass my clients details who i was reselling to onto them so they could buy direct from them, well this made me more mad, so i contacted the clients and explained this, not 1 of them was wanting to deal direct because of this, so i sorted these clients out with licences from licencepal at a slight discount and i get commission. then i just got a WHMCS licence

licensepal is who we purchased our license through as well. They were very easy to deal with. The amount of labor that went into tweaking our CE install was enormous so the labor of doing it again is causing me to get dizzy :) ha!

Wouldn't mind looking into WHMCS again. Pretty sure they got the bug fixed but the owned license is so much better than dealing with monthly charges. ha!

Some WHMCS owned licenses are going for cheap after looking on Google. For a while I thought WHMCS prohibited the transfer of licenses, glad to see they finally caught up with the 21st century :)

WHMCS will allow this if its an owned licence bought direct from them

License Transfer Policy

We allow owned licenses bought directly from us to be transferred providing 90 days have passed from the date of purchase. Licenses obtained through a reseller cannot be transferred. Before any sale or transfer, the existing owner should contact us to verify eligibility. Then once ready to be transferred, we will issue an invoice for the license transfer fee which is currently $20, and once paid need to be supplied with the name, email and address details of the new owner for the license to be transferred to.

Addons may be transferred between licenses within your own client account but not resold or transferred to other clients.

easyhostmedia, I saw that, which prompted me to make that comment. I remember for the longest time they wouldnt let you transfer it at all.

Now if we could only come across someone selling theirs off cheap enough...

they are still restrictive

1) you cant transfer for the first 90 days (3 months) after purchase
2) you cant transfer if you purchased through a reseller

i think that if you purchased an Owned licence then it should be up to you if and when you sell/transfer this

Totally agree. If I paid for the license, then that means I own a license for that product to do as I see fit. But alas, not everything works the way it should sometimes :)
