Program that allows users to add tips?

I am looking for something for a personal website of mine that will allow members to add tips to a page, similar to add a links page only allows them to add tips. I will set up the catogories and they add the info. I really don't want to have a forum set up for this.

The site is behind a password protected directory so not just anyone can access the page.

Should I just take the add a link script and modify it?
If the program you know about isn't free that is fine too.
 
Sorry I dont know of anything specifically for that but you could edit a link script I guess.
It would probably be a lot of work though and might even be better to do something very small yourself.
Something like a guestbook so people can add comments but you can change it so they are tips...
Would that be closer to what your wanting than a link script?
 
Not really I was trying to keep away from the forum, guest book look, that may be my safest bet though. I know I have searched all around and not seen anything yet. Thanks John
 
Thanks Rox Off, geeklog was one I had looked at and it was more than I needed. I ended up just using a forum style. My main concern was keeping people strictly to that area and allowing them to make the categories as well as the comments. Some of those look pretty good though. Will keep them in mind for future use. Thanks for taking the time to look those up for me. Freckled

Are you still looking? Would you consider having a custom program done for you?

What you want sounds simple and any programmer would probally take 2 - 3 days to create.
 
Hi turnkey, probably not a custom needed script for this group. I will be looking for some scripts pretty soon once this customer I have firms up what she wants.
