How many people use it for their domains? Would you spend extra money for Privacy of your domain whois?

I myself don't mind it at all. I think the upside of it is to keep spammers away. I've also noticed some telemarketers use whois info too call people. What are your intakes for PP on domains?

I think it can depend on where you live though. It didn't happen to me in Romania. :)

I can see why some people will feel the need to get PP. if you run a website one a sensitive subject, or with unorthodox opinions etc., you might want to minimize the number of poeple who actually know where you live. :)

I personally feel that it should never be used in business cases. You want your customers to be able to contact you, no matter what. Additionally, when customers see that you have blocked your real information from whois, they tend to become a little suspicious and move on to a host they can research.

Agreed. A business should be open about matters like these. They need to show "we're here, we're not going away, and we are accountable".

I also have to agree on that one.

I think for personal sites however, such as my own site I tend to keep it PP. I haven't paid for it for this renewal so it shows up, but I'd prefer not to give out my info to the public.

I use whoIS guard for some of my domains and i don't pay extra for that because those domains are with Directi reseller and Directi now provides free whois protection.

I usually don't protect whois records but lately i have been receiving far too many unsolicited calls for home loan, domain offers and so on. :(

I like this feature, I do not ask my cleints where they live at all. I do not even store that information. I don't ask for numbers, I just want an email, and if you pay, you're fine with me.

I hate that the service of privacy protect is actually FREE and domain registars charge for a FREE service. Stargate and GoDaddy does it free, the rest? Nah, they want to scam more money apparently.
