Depends on hardware, infrastructure, bandwidth quality. Also, the quality of support. Anything related to that server, not only CPU or RAM.

It really depends on the way you look at it. If you're speaking of renting a "dedi" then it would be RackSpace, Bandwidth & Amps. If you're talking about buying your own box then it would be the hardware (e.g. Mobo, CPU & Hardrive) everything else is fairly cheap.

Correct. The HDD price was went up 300%. I had to advise some customers not upgrading systems at that time, but for one customer he still needed to pay much higher price when building a new VPS node. Even it's lower now, it's still not as normal as before.

Do your research as prices can also depend on the quality of service. It's always good to look at reviews of potential companies you might go with. Sometimes it's worth paying that little extra to go with a company that has a strong reputation!

Bandwidth
and Support , since there are providers who are providing Fully Managed services , the server cost changes as per the support provided too.

so yes hard drives have gone up in price, but the cpu is also an expencive part of the server aswell.

it would be a close call between the two.
