Is Direct Admin cpanel free right for a VPS or Dedi Server? Can you also tell me some free panels with file manager?

The first part does not make sense. Also, cpanel is not free for a vps or dedi. It requires a license so providers charge a fee for you to use it. Also, not sure about direct admin. Some providers charge a low fee while others give it away for free.

I'm not sure of any free panels either.

Bang on Romes. There's no "worthy" free control panels available on the web. You get what you pay for. cPanel is one of the most popular, however DirectAdmin and Plesk and various others can give it a run for it's money. I'd stay away from "free" as it's just a high risk.

Thank you handsonhosting. Also, I do not think your gunna get a $5.00 cPanel unless your on a shared server or a reseller. VPS and Dedis are pricey.

cPanel for a VPS would normally cost $15.00+
cPanel for a Dedi would normally cost $30.00+

If the panels are free I would not use them. You can I mean, but free panels do not offer the wide range paid panels do. Not to mention security would be a hell a lot better with a paid panel versus a free one. Paid panels can afford the stuff needed to make the security top notch.

Something to note;

cPanel is a registered trademark of the makers of that software.

A Control Panel is what you're actually looking for. Saying "DirectAdmin cPanel" is a contradiction as these are two separate companies ;)

Finding a control panel for $5 can be done if you are purchasing the hosting account and/or hardware through the same company.

Many VPS companies include a control panel for free (or minimal fee). Some Dedicated Server companies include them relatively cheap also (rather than having to go to the makers).

yeah, cPanel is a registered trademark. When referring to a panel, you should use control panel instead of cPanel.

Did some research on Webmin. It is a decent control panel. It is worth giving a try if you do not want to use any of the other control panels out there.

dependant on your server OS i belive there is zPannel, similar to cPannel but free and for windows server

I came across ISPCP a while ago. http://isp-control.net/

They just released their 1.0.0 version a week or so ago, but I tried out some of their Release Candidates and they worked quite well.

Of course this isn't as robust or feature-filled as the commercial options like cPanel, DirectAdmin or Plesk, etc, but it does the basics (domains, subdomain, ftp accounts, email accounts).

I'm going to do some research into this ISPCP, I've always wanted a lightweight personal control panel that had the basics. Offering cpanel to your customers if you are a hosting company would be a good choice as it's widely popular and well supported.

cPanel is certainly the industry standard, but you won't go wrong with DirectAdmin either.

Cpanel is widely used because it is very simple to be used and easy to configure. Of course there are other panels like Plesk which are very powerful too.

cPanel is easy to use which is why it is widely used. Also, the majority of the web allready knows cPanel and how to use it so not offering it kind of frustrates people as they have to learn the control panel the host offers.

lxadmin/webmin is a decentish alternative to paid panels such as DA or cpanel. Cpanel is the recognised standard though and imho many customers are happier with hosts that use cpanel simply because they are familiar with it already.
