Hey,
I have one account which is getting a huge amount of spam.
The user got it when they were on their previous host and now its really effecting my mail queue.

What is the best way to delete the spam from them?
I dont want it to go to another folder or stay in the mail queue because it really is a huge amount, I have never seen so much for the one domain before and its using a lot of space on the server.

Have RH9 and WHM 9.1

Thanks
John

John,

Install cPanel Pro and have the user or you enable boxtrapper. The spammer will have to respond to a challendge email before there email will be delivered. And if not, they will automatically be deleted in x days you can define.

Also, if you want the best anti-spam filtering I can provide that for you. Starting next month I will be posting a new service that almost guarentee's 100% spam and virus free email! It will cary a very low monthly fee but for those who get a lot of spam it is worth it.

Well if it is comming from the same address or (Server) you can block that IP from your IPchains or firewall. Stopped dead in the tracks. Also report the addresses to the ISP's that helps problems :)

Very large number of domains and IPs.
Nothing thats similar in all headers.
I tried a few things to the exim.conf but they didnt help.
I have got them down a bit but there are still quite a few in the mail queue
Trying to do more things to bring it down a lot more though

You could warn the person that uses that account. To have them removed from the spam sites or change his / her e-mail. No one person should really get that much spam -.-

Firstly dorp the catchall if you can. Also within C-Panel setup some basic filtering as this will cut 50% out and get exim to drop it

I have done this with a couple of clients including myself John and just did a big write up on it in my clients forum. What was happening is they would get spam and enable spam assassin and then all the mail would back up in the queue and was overloading the CPU at a high rate. What we did to fix it was we :blackhole: (under default address) the catchall account and created new accounts for them to receive mail, it did mean they maybe had to give up an address that they used all the time but they said they hated the spam worse.

If a client gets a small amount of spam then spam assassin seems to handle it ok but if they are getting 500-1000 a day it doesn't keep up at all and them mail tends to loop and then gets stuck in the queue. Hope it helps you out.
