Olympics crazy quick

That's the word around the office lately as we have all caught a few of the games so far and it seems whenever someone wins a heat or the full deal, the answer is always "They are on drugs". Seriously, is everyone on drugs or is this just one answer being used too damn much?

Innocent until proven guilty, but with so much at stake, and so much competition, a little something for "the edge" will probably be more common than we'd like to admit. The whole trick is to use something so new that tests aren't developed for yet.

I would say that drugs are used more often than what we would think they are. Everyone is vying for the Gold and may be willing to go to any measures it takes to get it.

I would be very surprised if we don't find out in the coming years that some of the medalists were using some form or performance enhancing drugs. It's the nature of the game.
The equestrians are even drugging their horses.

It's just like new software only in reverse.
The good guys put out the software and eventually the bad guys hack it.

In sports the bad guys find new undetectable drugs and eventually the good guys catch up are are able to detect them.

Of course as we have seen recently sometimes the IOC and lab technicians are complicit in the cover up of these things.

You know, most of the athletes use anabolic steroid to increase their ability and activity. But it is forbidden and they can lose their professional qualification forever.

I guess I still like to think that athletes are natural when they are doing their thing. I know its out there, I am not that naive but I do hope that afew of them are going to clean route.

Imagine a scenario where 90% of athletes cheat, effectively bringing their performances beyond what the human body can naturally achieve. The "natural athletes" won't stand a chance, so we're unlikely to ever memorize their names.

On the other hand, assuming that only 1% of the athletes use drugs, using them is that much more effective, having the capability to turn an already good athlete into a super athlete, which makes taking the risk all the more worthwhile. The likelihood of a good percent of the winners being drug users thus remains pretty high IMHO.

I still like to go and shout for the underdog so maybe thats why I have such an issue with this. I have watched the games off and on lately and the volleyball (male and female) is the real crazy stuff.

I disagree. If 90% of athletes cheat, who will compete during Olympic Games. The performance-enhancing drug committee would disqualified 90% of athletes.

I liked handball, especially the game between France and Croatia. It was just like a Battle.

Assuming they have the means to catch them. Devising reliable tests is a real challenge, and to compound the problem, new drugs that could be used by athletes are invented every day.

If I were an athlete, I would take any anabolic drugs to get a success. The power is given to person from the nature itself and you should proud of yourself.

Even though a lot of atheletes have lost their career because of steroids, there are a lot of other atheletes who uses steroids, but just didn't get caught yet.
