What is others opinion on adult hosting.

When we got into the web hosting business 13 years ago, we had many many requests to host adult websites or adult related material.

I made the decision to not host any websites that contain adult or illegal material.

No I am not saying adult content is illegal :)

13 years later I still get requests from people who want us to host their adult websites.

:thumbup:Sticking to my original decision, my morals, faith & beliefs.

No amount of money is worth it to me.

Just my opinion:agree:

Adult hosting is fine and long as it is legal. I see no reason why it would be a problem if it is legal.

It is not a hosts' job to make moral judgements on the content of a client's websites.

If the content is legal I see no reason why I should censor it.

And I applaud you for sticking to your morals. :D
But I do agree with Romes and Blue.

I can see both sides of this. If I felt strongly that adult sites were wrong then hosting them just to make more money would be kind of hypocritical. That said I think as long as it wasn't illegal I wouldn't say no to anything either.

To many people, money is money. To others, beliefs outweigh the money gained. This falls under "the right to refuse service to anyone" category.

I know resturants in Los Angeles that if you do not wear a coat and tie, you can not enter the establishment - it doesn't matter how much money you have. Many celebs are denied access if not appropriately dressed. By the same token, I remember going to a bar in LA that has two strict rules - no ties, and no cellphones.

The matradee is equipped with a sissors and thumbtacks. Your tie is cut and hung on the wall. THOUSANDS of ties hang on the walls. If your phone rings, you are escorted out of the resturant. If you do not silence the phone or if you pick up the phone, you are ejected from the resturant.

This is your business. You can conduct business as you see fit.

On the flip side, personally, I have not objection to these types of sites, and we host many large websites in our network. We do however REQUIRE that anyone hosting adult material are hosted on separate machines (due to traffic etc).

To be honest your 13 years in business you should allow it right away. You can get many customers, but watch out although most people say its legal adult content sometimes they post really harmful things (talking from past experience) i am not sure if its appropriate to post those things here, but if you want i can pm you and tell you what to look for to avoid.

i appreciate you decision. Not many people follow such ethics. it is fine for people like you that doesn't care about the money, there are many cases where people have to compromise with their morals for money.

Adult hosting is not a bad thing as far as it is rules, hosting legal adult site is as good as some normal site.

The main reason I can see for *not* allowing it is the potential overnight strain it can cause on a server. Adult sites can get extremely popular out of nowhere in a hurry. It doesn't seem worth the hassle of dealing with potential tickets from other customers complaining about sub-standard performance or worse yet, downtime.

Personally I commend you for running your business based on morals and faith. 13 years later you must have done something right and obviously did not need adult to get it done. We allow adult hosting, and obviously deal with alot of shady clients that are not worth the trouble!

So long as it's not illegal and doesn't cause issues for other accounts on the same server it's really none of my business what our customers host with us, and I couldn't care less. In fact it's an opportunity to up sale those accounts to a package with more resources :)

Some people do not want to change or think they are changing their beliefs in this type of hosting, others do not want to chance someone saying their "stuff" is legal, and then finding out its not.

We do allow it and I have no issues limiting hosting to anyone, other than those under the age of 18 depending on the site and what I see come up under billing as say, a parents info. :D
