Dear HD users,

We need your vote.

In order to grow HostingDiscussion.com, it is of high importance for us to keep in touch with all the members. It is even more important to keep all of you guys well informed about things that we do at HostingDiscussion.com, as well as about the industry.

Since we've been trying to build this forum based on your suggestions and feedback, we would like to ask how you feel about receiving periodic newsletters from HostingDiscussion.com about things that happen here and things that relate to the web hosting industry?

The newsletter might (doesn't mean it will) contain information about this forum, contests and updates, interviews, industry news/highlights, advertising and other elements. However, the primary focus will be made on developments evolving HostingDiscussion.com.


POLL QUESTION: Do you approve our intention of letting you know about things that happen inside and outside of HostingDiscussion.com through periodic newsletters to the e-mail address used with forum registration? (Keep in mind that you will have full subscription control over the newsletter.)

I think that a newsletter like you propose is a great idea and a great way to keep in the know about things going on with the forum as well as industry news and everything else that you mentioned. This is all said keeping in mind that users will have the ability to opt-out if they do not wish to participate.

Jordan, we're in no specific hurry to launch this newsletter. After all, just a few votes were put in as we don't want to send users something they don't want to receive.

We are waiting for safer number of votes.

Well, then I'm glad I brought it back up ;). I just happened to think of it so I thought i'd track down the thread. Anyway, it is really a great idea to keep members involved in the forum and to keep people who are new and old alike in the know.
 
As suggested above, we will move this poll to General Discussions once we solve the bug problem with the poll.

Personally I am very indifferent to a weekly/monthly/yearly/whatever newsletter.

What you need to do though if you do have a newsletter, is to make it so that people want to read it. If it is boring, and no one reads it, then you're going to a lot of time and effort putting it together for nothing.

I'm yet to find a forum board which I frequent that has a decent newsletter. I also subscribe to Sony Ericsson's monthly newsletter I think it is, and only sometimes do they have interesting things - The majority of the time it's just boring [At least for me anyway].

A forum newsletter can be good. There is no really bad side to a newsletter. However, if you do decide to make one, make sure it's a decent one which people are willing to read - one that interests the viewers and so on.
