Anyone have ANY ideas? Anyone run into this before? I've never heard/seen/experienced problems with winlogon.

did you run chkdsk from within windows, or from the recovery console? If it was from within windows try chkdsk C: /f from the recovery console.

if that doesnt work, a format may be in order. I found a post on another site that said format it to fat32 then convert it to ntfs

Formatting and re-building should solve the problem anyway, unless it's a hardware problem (unlikely), in which case the only solution would be to replace the hardware.

I'd try re-installing or repairing windows before formatting. If it works, great, and if not, format.

Will try this when I'm in the office tomorrow - I wanted to try and avoid the ulmighty format if possible.

If the recovery console solution doesn't work - will pry end up formatting it.

Try CHKDSK /r. You may have a dying drive (bad sectors) the /r option relocates data in bad sectors to new sectors. Lastly your master file table (MFT) may be out of room or badly fragmented. Try something like diskkeeper to defrag the mft and resize it.
