I have a website under construction and I am looking for a server to host it. Knowing that this is a showcase website with 7 pages max, I think opt for a shared server which would cost me less in the year. I did a search on Google and I saw a blog that recommends http://express.ikoula.co.uk/web-hosting. I found another http://www.123-reg.co.uk/webhosting/ with interesting prices to. As my website has dot fr extension, I would like to choose a french web-hosting provider. Could someone advise me on the criteria to be taken in my choices? Thank you to answer me urgently!

Where do you expect most of your visitors to be from?
There are many hosting providers you can choose from. Did you see the offer section? You should list your needs for better suggestions and your budget as well. And do not simply choose on the basis of price.

I never heard about the companies you mentioned, but it is better to choose a US hosting provider with CDN support than French provider.

If the site is for a French audience and you have a .fr domain you should choose a host that are actually in France, us hosting for the UK and France is a really bad idea.

The cost of a CDN for a 7 page site is a nonsense.

You don't say whether your site is static or dynamic, but dynamic sites rarely gain from a CDN anyway. (There are some exceptions).

:agree: As others have suggested, if your audience is France, you should probably go with a European provider.

There are quite a few to choose from, so make sure you check reviews for any you may be consdering before signing up.

If your target audience is in France, pick a French web hosting provider. If not, then the playing field is open for you.

If your business is limited to France people then I would recommend you to search the webhosting provider located in france. However if you are doing business in entire Europe continent then any European webhosting provider will do

The offers section won't do much help if he is looking for a french web hosting provider.

A 7 page website, targeting the French market and you feel it would be best to go with a US provider? Go where your audience is, if worldwide go with the US, if France go with a French provider.

Do you have any specific requirement why hosting should be in France (expect .fr which won't play significant role on this)? For 7 page website you can easily host your site anywhere in Europe and that wouldn't affect it anyhow. Hosting in the US will also work but most probably it will be much slower then in EU.

Agreed with euro-space. As long as the server is located in EU it should not have significant difference. If you manage to find a good host in France you should of course go for it but a French provider is not a must.

You don't really need a French hosting provider. Most hosts will offer you to use all domain extensions when signing up for a package.

If you mean servers located in france, then there are quite a few to choose from.

Read your first sentence and your second one and try put them together :crash:

Why not go with a french hosting provider if you are primarily targeting the french market?

Maybe I didn't word that as well as I should have. What I was trying to say was that there are companies that aren't based actually in France that offers web hosting in France.

You don't need a French-based hosting provider to get a host with servers in France.

For example, we're not based in the US but offer servers in the US.

I agree that a server in France or nearby would be best. With only seven pages, literally the cheapest package you can find, assuming the host is reliable, would be fine. No need to spend more than a few dollars a month.

I love the "urgently" at the end of your request, but quite a few members have replied since then and it's now May 28th, two weeks later. Have you found a host that matches your requirements? Like others have said, you don't need a French hosting provider, rather any stable provider with servers in France.

I also noticed it as here first and only post and not bothered to reply, wonder if it was just one of those pointless posts

I did not hear about those providers yet, but I agree with the others choose the provider with the location nearest to you. It is the most practical choice.

I agree with Santrex - if you haven't already selected a provider, just pick one and go with them. Sometimes even mistakes are better than doing nothing.
