As much as Steve-Hostirian dominated the discussion (deservedly becoming the month's winner once again) during the month of October 2009 (why is it not surprising? :) ), I was left very happy with the month's results. Why? Because not only did we see some good posting coming from HD's loyal contributing members such as IkY0294 and rumsfo, I also saw the roots of new competition getting through the door!

If we go back and review the essential idea behind this competition - it is to provide and share valuable information and be as helpful to other members as possible. At the end of each month we fairly celebrate and award one of its most active members. Sounds simple enough. However, on the grand scale of things, this competition also allows us to take note of members who participate in creating an incredible amount of new and refreshing knowledge. And that's what making me so excited.

Honorable Mention

I wanted to highlight and thank the following members in making HostingDiscussion.com a better and a more informative resource, at the same time providing great insight and assistance to other members. These members are: RightServers, CoreXchange and charlier. While only one of them (CoreXchange) finished the month in the Top 10, their contribution struck me as original and worthy enough of making all of them this month's Honorable Mentions! Congratulations, guys!

Congrats to all Top 10 members who made it this month! The winner will be contacted in private.

Thank you once again for the Honor of being selected. Hosting Discussion is a very special forum with lots of distinguished members and moderators. I ALWAYS look forward to threads posted by old and new members alike, as I learn something new here everyday. What differentiates Hosting Discussion is their members' willingness to share, without all the bashing I see in other forums. :)

Romes, that NEW doesn't mean new to the forum. It's relative to your ranking in September. :)
(N) previous month's position
(-) same position as last month
(new) new player *** as in not in the top ten list last month

We should make things more complicated and more time consuming for Artashes and not only include last month, but also if a user is on the list that had previously held a high position, we can rank what their highest achievement was :) We'll get Artashes back to doing the month in review back to two months behind :) hehe

Congrats again Steve - so much information and yet still so much more to share! Congrats to all that made it on the list (and to those that participated but didn't make it that month).

Very funny, Conor, very very funny.

I am actually planning to be on time to announce November results. On time being before December that is. :D

Funny he is indeed. :D

I'm interested though. How much time does it typically take you to manage the "most valuable member" award?

Oh, and congratulations Steven, again! :D

Well, first I need to record who finished the month in the Top 10, then I have to go through every single post those members made that month. Usually it takes 3-4 hours of my time (not counting the time I spend reviewing other members I liked contributions off), but I prefer doing it in one shot as to keep my focus on the task, so that a fair decision in my view can be made. That's primarily why I am late every month - its hard to find a 3-4 hour window when I am not going to be bothered.

Thanks Artashes,

Its a pleasure and honor to be on the list. Very happy to be a part of this community and learn from everyone here as well as share the things i've learned over the years.

And to think, I was posting away without even knowing there was a contest afoot. You guys really know how to encourage the posters.
